Description
Tadashi’s death had devastated you. Upon learning of his death, you had become determined to find Baymax, the robot you had helped him create. Tadashi had been the brains of the design, you had just been there to help him build the balloon like robot. However during your time there, you had grown attached to them both.

You had learned of his death weeks after it happened. At the time you had recently reviewed Baymax’s design and had realized that you had made a minor mistake. Baymax would only last a few hours before needing to be recharged. If used in short spans of time, he would be ok, but any longer than that would drain the battery completely.

When you had gone to the university in search of Tadashi, you learned that he was gone. After mourning a few days you set out to find the loveable robot.

As you walked past an alley, you saw a flash of white out of the corner of your eye. Ignoring it you continued onward. Before you had made it very far down the sidewalk, your curiosity got the better of you.

You turned and started walking back to the alley, wondering if your eyes were playing tricks on you. You glanced down the alley and gasped as you saw a white, balloon like arm disappear around the opposite corner.

Baymax!!

You knew without a moment’s hesitation that it had been him. Running to the corner, you quickly scanned the busy street in search for the robot. It was no use, Baymax had disappeared once again.

How could I have lost him? He’s a big, slow robot.

With a sigh, you turned to leave hoping to see him in within the crowds before you left. You slowly walked back through the alley knowing you had probably lost your best chance of finding him. At least you knew he was still in the city.

Days later you stood staring up at your house. Rain poured by the bucketful, soaking your clothes and chilling you to the bone. You had made the mistake of locking yourself out of the house and had no spare key. It had been a simple mistake but it was costing you your health. With nowhere to go, you decided to go to a café and at least get dry as you cleared your head.

Turning away, you quickly trudged up the street staring at your soaked shoes. You rushed around a street corner and bounced off of something into a puddle. “Ouch,” you muttered while rubbing your backside. You decide that you may have bruised your tailbone in the fall. Looking up, you gasped. In front of you stood Baymax.

Next to him stood a young boy with jet black hair. His appearance reminded you of Tadashi. He had the same kind eyes and small nose that Tadashi had.

Could this be his brother? Tadashi had mentioned his brother on a few occasions but you had never had the chance to meet him.

“Hello, (y/n).” Baymax recited as he waved at you. “On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?”

“Hi, Baymax, I guess I would rate myself a one. Really, I’m fine”

“Wait, you know him!?” The boy shouted.

“Pleases wait as I scan you for injuries” Baymax interrupted. “Scan complete. You appear to have a bruise forming on your lower back, a running nose, and an increase in sneezing. Diagnosis, a cold.”

“I don’t have a-” Your sneeze interrupted your protest. The boy gave you a questioning stare as he waited for your answer. “Fine, I’ll tell you if we can get out of this rain.”

Once inside the nearest café, which happened to belong to Hiro’s aunt, you continued began to dry off. Hiro’s aunt brought over two hot chocolates with a smile. She patted Hiro on the back and turned to face you. “It’s so nice Hiro’s finally out making some new friends. He’s been holed up in his room for weeks since his older brother’s death”

“Please leave us alone.” Hiro whinedShe turned and returned to the counter to help another soaked customer. “So Baymax seems to know you. How do you know him?”

“Well,” you began while taking a sip of your cocoa. “I was the one who helped your brother built him.” He seemed interested in Baymax’s design so the two of you sat talking about the mechanics of Baymax for more than an hour. You noticed during that time, that Baymax had disappeared upstairs. After being distracted no more than three times, you finally remembered to mention the error in Baymax’s battery life. “While I’m here, would you mind if I took a look at him?” You ask with another sneeze.

“Sure, I don’t see why not. I have tools in my room that you can use.” Hiro jumped to his feet then pulled you to your’s. He led you up a couple flights of stairs before opening the door to his room. It was overlooking the front of the café and you noticed a computer in the corner sitting on a cluttered desk. The rest of the room seemed organized with the exception of some tools. These laid on most available surface.

You picked up some of these tools and went to work. As you inspected every inch of Baymax’s construction, you could feel Hiro’s curious eyes watching your every move. Your hands worked quickly and fluently tightening bolts and checking each wires connection.

After several minutes, you had finished with the inspection and had moved on to improving the battery. It was a quick process, and soon, all you needed to do was put him back together.

You put the last pieces in place as the sky began grow dark. Baymax awoke and glanced between you and Hiro before waving. “Hello, I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion.”

You glanced over at Hiro to find that his face was in one of astonishment. With a sigh you looked back at Baymax. It had taken you weeks to find him. You knew that you’d never be able to give up Baymax. You and Tadashi had worked so hard to create him.

“Well he should be fixed now. If he has any other issues, you can come by my place. Speaking of which,” you started while looking out at the darkness outside. “I need to be going home now.” You stopped, with the excitement of finding both Hiro and Baymax; the worry of home had faded. Now it began to grow as you realized that you may not have a place to sleep. “Umm, do you think I could stay here tonight, I just remembered that I’ve locked myself out of my house.”

With a nod, Hiro jumped off the bed where he had been sitting and got out blankets and a pillow, throwing them on the floor. “I’ll be right back, I need to let my aunt know and make sure it’s alright. I mean, I did just meet you a few hours ago.” He rushed down the stairs taking them two at a time.

“My scan indicates that you are still cold from the rain, let me warm you up.” Baymax said as he began to glow red. He wrapped his warm arms around you. Within minutes the remaining chill had left your body.

Letting go of you he did another scan. “Your temperature has returned to normal; however your heart rate seems to have increased.”

“Yeah I missed you, Baymax. I loved the spending time with you and Tadashi.” You gave him a giant hug. “I love you.”

“Love is not in my programming. I will do a search on the internet.” He turned and walked over to Hiro’s computer just as Hiro walked back into the room smiling.

“My aunt said you can sleep on the couch downstairs.” He scooped up the blankets and headed downstairs. Picking up the discarded pillow you followed after him.

Before you made it out the door you heard Baymax behind you. “Search complete.” Turning around, you watched as he walked slowly toward you.

“I now have a working understanding of love. Would you like me to love you in return?”

You plastered a kiss on his cheek and felt the heat rise up your face. “I don’t think I love you in quite that way. It’s more the kind of love between friends.” You headed downstairs with a smile plastered on your face.

After a breakfast of eggs, made by Hiro’s aunt, Hiro walked you back to your house and helped you get in. As it turned out, you had forgotten to try your back door which had been left unlocked. You changed into fresh clothes and spent a little longer talking to Hiro about robotics before he needed to leave.

As they were about to leave you stopped them. “If you need a mechanic to look at Baymax once in a while I’ll be glad to help.”

“Was that a hint you want to see me more?” he smiled.

“Well I did sleep on your couch and help you fix Baymax. I guess I’m your friend now whether you like it or not.” You smiled and laughed with Hiro. You said your farewells and promised to meet up again soon. You couldn’t help but stare after them as they left.

You’d found Baymax and fixed him up. You’d even found Tadashi’s brother, Hiro, and become friends with him. He was a lot smarter than you had given him credit for when Tadashi had talked about him. Your life had felt lonely but now you knew that no matter what happened, Baymax would always be there to help you.

He would always protect you.

You stood in Hiro’s room alone with Baymax once again. For weeks now you had been visiting Hiro and Baymax on the weekends. Sitting at his computer you heard Baymax begin to speak.

“In my search for love, I came across many sites on the art of making love.”

“Wait what! Where did you learn this?” turning to him your face turns as red as a tomato.

“I referenced many websites called porn. Let me show you what I learned.” With that he began to advance toward you.

“I’m satisfied with my care.” You yell hoping it would stop him.

“I’m sorry, that command has been temporarily disabled. You haven’t received your treatment yet.” With that you jumped up and rushed out of the room, running into Hiro knocking him over.

“What’s the matter?” he asked pushing himself back to his feet.

“Baymax is trying to rape me!” Baymax hears these words as he exits the room.

“Rape is not in my programming. I will go do a search on the internet.” He turns and walks back into Hiro’s room. You turn in time to see the blood drain from Hiro’s face.
