Description Mehitabel the Alley Cat, from Don Marquis's series of Archy and Mehitabel poems. I tried to make the stripes on her dress look kinda like the frills on those flapper dresses in the 20s (since that's when the poems were written), and the one stripe on her leg looks a little like a garter.

I love those old poems! The whole concept is very clever and imaginative, and your interpretations of Archy and Mehitabel are spot on I like the way you inked them too, it's reminiscent of George Herriman's scratchy drawing style while still bringing something fresh and new to the table.

Thanks for sharing!

Very clever! I grew up on the old cartoon, and this looks good.

Ooh, wow! I really love the style you use. Mehitabel came out looking perfectly devious and calculating. She looks like the kind of lady who's got everyone in the palm of her paw and knows it.

Yep, definitely a cat.

Really?

In the poems she's a flea-bitten scrounger on her ninth life, supporting her spirits with the idea that in past lives, she was any number of fancy royal ladies served bon-bons on plates and all that jazz.

LOL. I realised I said 'that is really cat' instead of 'cute' I think!

But your welcome. I like dogs but but not as much!

I love the curves of her body! There's a lot of personality there that reminds me of my own cats, lol! And I like the Garter idea, she has a 20's feel to her!

Thanks, Tony.

Her catchphrases, in the poems, are "Wotthehell, wotthehell," and "Toujours gai!" (Means "always happy!")
