Yes! I bought an e-book of Archy poems to read during my commute. Don Marquis is now my favorite writer, hands down. Excellent job capturing him and Mehitabel!

I have very vague memories of seeing a movie version of this when I was little.

Yup. It was a shoddily animated musical called Shinbone Alley. I still remember Mehitabel's scratchy smoker's voice and Archy's Jewish Brooklyn accent.

I've always loved cartoon styles like this. You've managed to create expression and liveliness without making your character spastic, disturbing, and unappealing. The conversion of his wings into a coat was very clever, and works well for this sort of character. I'm particularly fond of the running pose. The exaggerated curves of his body (and his expression 
I'd love to see more of him, he strikes me as very interesting.
