Description Look, he's crawling up my wall
Black and hairy, very small
Now he's up above my head
Hanging by a little thread

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Now he's dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe he's as scared as me
Where's he gone now, I can't see

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesn't seem to move at all
Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

He's come to a sticky end
Don't think he will ever mend
Never more will he crawl 'round
He's embedded in the ground

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Boris the Spider/The Who

I actually took this by taking the lens off my camera and turning it round. (lens reversal). If you are careful you can get some good results.

Thanks. After listening to it in the 70s, my mates and I called all spiders Boris. Great song, written by Entwistle the Ox, by the way....
Yes, Boris did come to a bad end didn't he?

Thanks a lot for the fave.

This was taken with reverse lens macro technique. I think #The-Faerie-Garden are doing a tutorial on it.......

You're very welcome! I've always had a soft spot for The Who. Ever since seeing the giant Doc Martens in Tommy.

I've actually been messing about with the reverse lens technique for the last few weeks. It's a bit addictive!

Ha! Reverse lens is addictive. A lot cheaper than a dedicated macro lens, but trickier to use.

Saw The Who at Manchester Apollo in 1972. Moon was brilliant. I was 18.

were you wobbling back and forth to get it in focus like a plonker?

this looks AMAZING nig, the focal point and B/W conversion is perfect!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to ClickClickBangUK [2009-09-16 22:36:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the fave, luv. It's murder doing this isn't it? You move a nano inch and the focus shoots about like mad cos you have zero depth of field. I took about 40 to get this. It got pissed off in the end and buggered off.

I'm thinking of doing a comp using this technique, but I don't know if I should be encouraging people to mess about with expensive lenses.

CRITTER! and yes. Lens reversal macro can get you some fantastic images. What were you using, a 50mm?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to drackar [2009-09-16 22:39:14 +0000 UTC]

I was actually using the 80mm end of a long zoom. I have broken my short zoom, and the only 50mm prime I have won't fit Olympus four third mounts. Reversal is ok if you have it steadied, otherwise you are dancing about like a loony like I was.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

drackar In reply to photonig [2009-09-16 22:51:33 +0000 UTC]

You know, for reversal...it really doesn't matter WHAT camera the lens was designed for.

But yeah. it can be irksome...I took thirty shots of the same fly a while ago. Not one came out worth anything.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to drackar [2009-09-16 22:59:25 +0000 UTC]

That sounded daft, I know. What I meant was I didn't have my 50mm with me because it doesn't fit the mount. It is in a bag under the bed, and has been for years. It is off my Ricoh SLR film camera. I don't use it much nowadays. It is 25yrs old, and still one of the sexiest lenses I have ever used.
