Yup! More fraggles. This time I decided to do an " illustration " from a particular episode of TV's Jim Henson's " Fraggle Rock ". This would be, according to my Google search, from episode 17, " Marooned " which originally aired on HBO on May 2nd, 1983! Can ya believe it? " Return of the Jedi " hadn't even hit theaters!!!!!" Marooned " is probably the first episode of " Fraggle Rock " to really hit a nerve as far as the " this isn't just another cookie-cutter kids show " jive is concerned. Boober and Red faced the reality of dying in this one. Those who have seen this one know how much of a beautiful tear-jerker this episode is. I get choked up every time Boober tells his little story about the soap bubble.
ANYway, uhhh....... I dunno what I was saying. Boober & Red have been trapped in a cave-in and can only rely on their friends to save them. Which, of course, they do.

very accurate drawing from marrooned, because when they were trapped, boober's scarf got caught outside so he was without it the whole time.

Great ep. I love that Henson never, ever shied away from difficult topics/situations. He never talked down to kids. It was so great.

i like the episode mostly because it focuses on boober (plus my fave song in the series is go with the flow). i got the entire series on dvd on my birthday, so naturally, the first episode i watched was marrooned, mainly because it focused on my crushes birthday.

"I don't know, Red. I don't think anybody does. You know, I remember this one day, I was doing my laundry, and then this big soap bubble floated right up from the tub, and there is was, in front of my face, beautiful and shiny, and then it was gone."

Stand-out Fraggle moment.
Had you noticed at all that The Friendship Song they sing is less about a generic 'giving up' as it is about 'giving up on life'. Like a short sweet verse about how suicide will hurt the people who love you. That show was deep.

This is what actually convinced me that not only do opposites attract, but also that Boober and Red work together as friends and as a team. Boober showing a side we ever knew (him being an optimist, trying to keep all hope intact) and Red (being the sad one, in need of a friend)

Although I'm a beginner to the show, I do agree with you-Fraggle Rock IS a magical place! I wish I could go there and meet Gobo and all his pals. Even though I didn't get any of the five on that quiz, I find I can relate to the fraggles in some ways-some days, I have lots of energy and can be very enthusiastic about the things I love like Red. Some days though, I can be pessimistic and moody like Ol' Boober(I kind of feel bad for him sometimes-I think he needs a good hug or two, maybe even a kiss on the cheek!). I am curious about the world(and quite practical, if I do say so myself) like Gobo, and I am very artistic and dramatic like Mokey, and very sweet to everyone(well, at least I try to be). And finally, I'm a big "wembler" like Wembley-seriously, I have the hardest time making up my mind, even on little things! It's terrible, lol!
