Description Yup! More fraggles. This time I decided to do an " illustration " from a particular episode of TV's Jim Henson's " Fraggle Rock ". This would be, according to my Google search, from episode 17, " Marooned " which originally aired on HBO on May 2nd, 1983! Can ya believe it? " Return of the Jedi " hadn't even hit theaters!!!!!

" Marooned " is probably the first episode of " Fraggle Rock " to really hit a nerve as far as the " this isn't just another cookie-cutter kids show " jive is concerned. Boober and Red faced the reality of dying in this one. Those who have seen this one know how much of a beautiful tear-jerker this episode is. I get choked up every time Boober tells his little story about the soap bubble.

ANYway, uhhh....... I dunno what I was saying. Boober & Red have been trapped in a cave-in and can only rely on their friends to save them. Which, of course, they do.

11/5/12 Rescanned.

Yeah. Thats the problem with society today. Specific medias are labeled strictly for an individual group of viewers. Cartoons and puppets are just for kids and if these shows portray anything other than the generic child-friendly material, you get yelled at. lol And in all honesty, we're giving our kids very little credit as well by technically 'dumbing down' their viewing material. Many kids like meaningful plots with relatable characters too. Nows its all colors and noise.

But yeah. I'm ranting. xD Beautiful piece. I really like the colorful undertones in this. It isn't just strictly a color made darker for shading. I've been looking all over for this episode.

I agree. People are so dead set on slapping a label sticker onto everything but never really enjoying the specifics once they've got it labeled & shelved. Of course, what I just wrote doesn't apply to all people and no one really has to do anything to " solve " it. It's really just up to the individual to determine how they want to enjoy something... if that makes any sense. ( I posted this pic a few years ago so I had to reread what I wrote. Apparently I was drunk when I posted this too. That does in no way mean that I'm cool. )

Thanks so much. You can buy these on DVD now. If you want all 4 seasons though, you have to buy the boxset as it's the only way to get season 4.

Yeah. I agree. It's more a problem involving enraged parents getting worked up over the most miniscule of things and dragging their children off in a fit. Then companies have to try and adapt their media to that sort of customer. Though, I suppose its their right as a parent to do this, you'd hope it wouldn't ruin it for the kid or other adults.

And you're fortunate, you typed well enough not to appear drunk, so kudos. lol

Chances are, my mother loves the show enough, she'll probably jump on it before I get the chance.

Parents can be pretty wacky I s'ose.

Yay! I don't type like a drunk!

Well, if your Mom does buy the fraggle DVDs, let her know about the box set. She can probably find it on Amazon.

I saw a clip of this particular scene recently (I'm planning on getting the complete series set once I've saved up for it...I'm torn on which show I want more right now, Batman:The Animated series complete series set or the Fraggle Rock one.), and it really tugged at my heartstrings.

I used to watch Fraggle Rock on the Disney Channel when I was a little girl, and remember being so sad when they stopped showing episodes. The show stayed in my mind up till now, my adult years, where my love of the Muppets and Jim Henson have reintroduced me to the show I had once loved so dearly as a child.

Beautiful illustration from a classic show!

Phraggle In reply to Amanda-Sparrow [2008-11-13 00:13:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm sure Batman is cool but Fraggle Rock is one of the best things ever. The show is brilliant. Truly. You can find many things about life in the show without it at all being preachy.

They say they're doing a Fraggle movie. Since the series ended so perfectly, I dunno if they can add much more to it with a movie though. It'll still be fun.

Thanks so much. To be honest, sometimes I'm amazed I drew this picture.

Oh there's a lot of fraggle stuff. Not tons but they made fraggle things. They made some new stuff recently when the dvds came out... and they're probably gonna be more now that there's a movie in the works. I've got a pretty big fraggle collection. You can see some of my fraggle collection in my scraps gallery.

I dunno if that one is on Youtube or not but the episode is called " Change of Address ". It's best if you've seen most of the other ones before watching that one though. It's incredibly moving and has a very deep message. " Gone but not Forgotten " is another tear-jerker.

You have a DA brother? What's that mean?

You know, I learned to read from a young-adult Fraggle Rock book called "Marooned" when I was a wee lad.

I also watched Fraggle Rock religiously back then.

But I had NO IDEA that "Marooned" was an episode of the show until NOW!

This gets insta-fave, and I'm off to find this episode...

Thanks. I have the book you speak of. For some reason, in that series of fraggle books, they did an adaptation of " Marooned ".

Welp, the first 3 seasons of Fraggle Rock are on DVD now if'n you didn't already know.
