My mother had a perm like your sisters, my father was driving a Datsun and whined when fuel prices got to 60c a litre.
The internet did exist albeit nothing like today, and our home computer had a massive 8mb hard disk that we were told we would never fill.

I think it was actually 1990 but close enough. We never thought of " The 80s " as a thing back then. It just was. People didn't start going all categorical about the decades until the mid 90s.
