Description
My most ambitious Photoshop manipulation.I scanned the cover of People Magazine (May 2000) which was "The Fifty Most Beautiful People in the World 2000."
They had chosen Julia Roberts for the cover.
In Photoshop I extracted all the elements of the image to layers and finally erased Julia Roberts and replaced her with a photo of my wife, Bee. Then I dropped all the elements back onto the background, leaving me with this.
I then printed the image and pasted it over the original cover of the magazine. I laid it on a table in the living room and said nothing. Finally, Bee saw the magazine as she walked by it (for about the fiftieth time), and did the world's biggest double-take.
She took it to work with her to show it around. One of the people there said "This is amazing! But I can't find the article!"
Update, Sept 11, 2010.
The image shown is the image I used in my photo manipulation. As I noted in my journal, People magazine demanded that I remove the deviation. I'm sure that sketchybob is very proud.

It was fun showing off and sharing the image, but being "forced" to remove it takes nothing away from the original intent, which was to express love and to pull a bit of a gag. No one can take away the feeling that Bee had when she saw it or that she has when she thinks about it today.
Funny that the troll who reported it didn't have anything to say about the Playboy gag....

This is NOT copyright infringement. As parody, and per US Copyright law: [link]

It's not worth worrying over. Nothing will change the importance of the picture to Bee or to me.

As he is not making any attempt to make money off of this image, and it was done in parody, he is NOT breaking any copyright infringement rules.

Your reporting of this work, which was done in fun and does not affect the market or potential market of People magazine. Your comment and reporting simply shows your ignorance and spiteful nature.

Wow...what a jerky thing to do. "Sketchybob" makes THAT user sound like a criminal by username and connotation. He or she should have busied themselves reporting
that actually MATTERS, like the Disney art theft dominating dA right now (re-colored line-art that people are selling as their own for dA points, for example), explicit porn on dA, and threats in comments/posts/forums.

She does, she does!
The photo on this (fake) magazine cover is from when she was a good bit younger, but this is still the girl I see when I look at her today.

Thank you! I am a romantic.
And my wife is still beautiful, as I say in the story.
On our last anniversary I told her that another 43 years with her wouldn't be enough.
We are fast closing on our 44th Anniversary!

Thank you, Miss. I think I'm going to scan the back of the original magazine, and the inside covers, and have Kinko's print it for me so that I can replace the original cover with a new one.

Yeah, I also need to write my story, "Crazy She Calls Me." I have it sort of finished in my head, I just need to write it down.
And I'm running out of free time. Next week I start back to work. I sure have enjoyed goofing off for the last couple of weeks. And I'm so good at it!

I wish there was a plug that you could put in your brain, and everything spills out on paper .
It would do me soooo much good lol. I have the same situation most of the time . I have a story in my head (sometimes multiple) but they never make it to the paper ;(.
Oh no! I'm good at goofing off to X). Well, maybe you'll find the time to write it down, or find inspiration to right it down .
