Description My husband took this while I was doing an architectural shoot with my 4x5. I hated the picture at the time but now, 20 years later, I love it. Keep that in mind about photos of yourself. Nothing like age to make you look good in an old photo.

Thank you, Ron. It's always nice to find a good photo of yourself ... that shows your better points.

wow, with another dress this would look like 1889
The problem with authentic vintage photography is, that often the manip is decent but the people just don't look like from 100 years ago. I think your wild hair is what makes it look so real.

I agree with you completely. I love that it feels kind of timeless. My husband is the one who has managed to get the most 'good' portraits of me. Thanks for the great comment.

Really. We get the distance to see
and love what we were. In sum,
for the balance of time becomes
the feeling that we make our own
history, sharing with the others.
Very nice shot!

Thanks. I love that it carries the essence of my personality. I didn't see it then...only surface. Now I'm wiser.

Really. Personality is not necessarily eloquently expressive, like ego (selbst) is not the expression of a real personality.
I think personality is an individuation, a conquest which is available to everyone, but unfortunately just a few has conscience about it

It really does look much older than it is, very vintage, I can see why you love it!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

myrnajacobs In reply to kayceeus [2008-05-14 16:02:01 +0000 UTC]

The age is partly due to my 'look' and partly due to the fact that I took a picture of his original 8x10 with my lensbaby. I do like it now. And I almost NEVER like photos of myself.

I didn't in no way mean that you looked older I meant the effect of the photograph, I hope you realized that!

myrnajacobs In reply to kayceeus [2008-05-14 17:41:54 +0000 UTC]

I realized that! Even if I did, you'd never say that. You are such a nice person! xo

Well I feel the same way about you you're one of the nicest people I've met anywhere that's why I wanted to make extra sure you understood what I meant! Actually you look like a teenager about how old were you?

myrnajacobs In reply to kayceeus [2008-05-15 00:38:19 +0000 UTC]

I was about 45 or so then. I can't believe it was that long ago!

WOW you're lookin' good girl I never would have thought you were that age! I know what you mean about not believing it was that long ago, I found my son's graduation tassel the other day and it's been over 25 years since he graduated high school! I don't even want to think about how long it's been for me!!!

myrnajacobs In reply to kayceeus [2008-05-15 23:37:28 +0000 UTC]

I look okay, especially with good lighting and a bit of photoshop (still)... but I could stand to be thinner and in better shape. Oh well.

I didn't go the my last High School reunion but I did go the one before that. It was so interesting to see that people were really pretty much the same people they were then. Most were in pretty decent shape too. I'll go to the next one... and we will all be really really old.

myrnajacobs In reply to kayceeus [2008-05-17 02:48:17 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes when I gain a bit more weight (and I do from time to time), people often do NOT recognize me... even those who have seen me in relatively recent times. I think it is because the weight gain shows up in my face and changes my features... sigh... I hate being overweight because it never feels like me..

kayceeus In reply to myrnajacobs [2008-05-17 15:13:06 +0000 UTC]

I do that too now that I'm a woman of a "certain age". I used to gain in my breasts first which was fine with me because there's not much there to begin with but this puffy face business is for the birds I'm constantly having to monitoring my weight now.

Me too. I tend to binge a bit (or at least not think about it) and then regret that... and then watch it, doing judicious dieting.

I think it's the expression in your face and that moment where it looks like your thinking "o.k., I'll pose for a sec- then let me get back to doing what I'm doing..." (because it's obvious your doing something involved! )

from some reason, I can't answer your reply to my comment at the article/news....
but I feel that I want to thank you for your so kindly words!
sometimes, you (general speaking) need to hear other people talk about your art, in order to "find your place"...
I'm sure I'll use yours next time I'll be asked to say something about myself and my work..
thanks so much Myrna! it's much appreciated!
