Description
I visited NYC during the week before 9-11-01 and took this photo. Reflected in the building is the WTC.Related content

I never understood how it got a DD. For me it was a photo I took because it was more interesting to me than the WTC visually. I put it up in memory of that awful day. I was shocked when it got a DD.

i love building reflections and this one is pretty dramatic because of the timing.

Thank you. When I went home with it, it was just another photo... only later.. sigh.

it seems like his glam stuff is a cover just to do street photography, but his photos of his daughter are really special.

I think he makes money with the 'celebrity' stuff? It's good practice too for street photography. There is often a softness (emotionally) even to the glam stuff.

that's a nice observation (the softness) that i'll bet he would like to hear.

Oh, wow, a DD. I noticed this in my preview before you must've been awarded this and actually thought to myself "wow, that's really an image which should be recognized, something really special" I'm so proud you got this. I knew I should have commented sooner.
Well, for this photo, im really at a loss for words, you take a very traditional idea, tear it apart, and put it back together in a completely creative and emotional way. Ive been staring at the image for a few minutes now and still cannot get over it. This is precisely the reason why I watch you, I dont know what to say, increadible work. As always.

Like people above, my first thought was zebras. Lovely photograph, I'm sure, but I'm not understanding the reflection thing. It's the WTC itself? Or just a reflection of it in the buildings windows?
Congrats on the DD.

It is a reflection of the WTC itself. I was there the week before and the WTC towers were so huge and relatively uninteresting up close so I turned to shoot this image. I thought of it at the time as just a graphic thing. Later it took on more meaning. And yes...it does look like zebras.

Fabulous. Unti I read the comments, I thought it was zebra stripes. You know, each zebra has unique stripe patterns? Each window a unique reflection of the subject.

I have any feeling about the 9/11. For me, this is nothing more special than the 28k people dead in Iraq War. For me, THIS is special. Because the WTC drops because they have a "cause" to do this. The USA have "revenge" (oil)...

Well, I don't like all the dead any place in the world... and particularly not for oil or religion!

Unfortunable, Bush is killing iraquian and american people just to take oil and more market. You (americans) need to retire this guy from White House. This man is crazy!

CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE DD
It looks like several zebras live/work at this place unless there is only a huge contorsionist one filling the whole building
