Thanks riley. it's really almost all there on the thing I scanned...wonderful textures. As you know it is really just how opaque, what the contrast is like that makes it work.

depth, color, subtle light., alternative process..its a winner!! and I agree, forget the FAKE...Does any process truly exhibit what physically existed at the time?
or, more importantly, does it capture and share what we felt? No, I don;t think so...
I love what you are doing to re-work the alternative stuff, and indepedent of the above rant (it's not my fault, its the Irish in me LOL), I think this is very nice with good depth, I really like the patina and light.
Hope you are staying warm!

I am SO loving this series!!! (Especially like the colors on this one. I'm very fond of rich, vibrant earthtones with that "overlay" look to them...)

beautiful how long did it take to reproduce this effect of a daguerrotypes?

I scanned an actual daguerrotype so it was quick. But I have to adjust it some when it's layered. One of these things take me several hours or more to do.

Yes, Darjeeling was wonderful, just very cloudy. There were real tibetian monks in small hillside monastries, and lot's of tea
I'm just browsing your gallery, by the way! Some of your stuff is really brilliant, you're really creative!

Thanks very much. I so desperately need and want to travel to exotic places! I've been to France, England and Switzerland..but for all intents and purposes it might as well be the USA. I do really love those place and want to go back, though.

Exotic places are fun, but not all that great if I'm honest. That trip was really extreme, and I was very very glad when I finally returned home... India was a little too exotic for me sometimes. Did you know they actually import toilet paper for turist, since they don't use it? A public toilet in India is the stuff for nightmares. I ended up having to go to hospital while I was there. I always try to do my internships for university abroad, to get to know the world better. The one before India I was in Brasil, and I ended up getting three fat larvae inside my left food, that would carve tunnels in there, and itch like hell. I think I need a year or two at least before I venture my next exotic destination.
England, Switzerland and France are great.
