Random question! When I do travel Europe someday, will I be able to get by with my English? I'm also studing French at the university and hope to become fluent in it. Will I survive?

Yup you will be able to get along by English.
In the new additions formerly known as GDR the older folks have learned Russian, not English, but there should be enough younger ones around to help you, and dunno if you plan to go to backwater eastern Germany...

Then again, why not. It has some lovely places... nature-wise.
