Description
This one wasn't so much an attempt at being creative as it was getting familiar with morphing software. I just got a little obsessed with it, and the end result turned out to be interesting. There is a theory that the most beautiful faces actually have the most average features. A number of projects have taken many photographs of people (some who were far from the glamour magazine standards) and morphed them together to create attractive faces. I have seen these, and as interesting as they were, I wanted to "one-up" them. For starters, I picked 32 women who are already known for having attractive faces. I wanted to see if it made a difference. (The answer is "not really".) But the second thing I wanted to do was show different angles than straight-forward. As far as I know, I'm the only person who has done this in profile and 3/4 views.
The thirty-two women to make these images were: Jessica Alba, Gilian Anderson, Annette Bening, Claire Danes, Dana Delaney, Angie Everhart, Rebecca Gayheart, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Heather Graham, Allyson Hannigan, Angie Harmon, Lauren Holly, Traylor Howard, Helen Hunt, Elizabeth Hurley, Jane Leeves, Debra Messing, Renee O'Connor, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Perkins, Paulina Poriskova, Molly Ringwald, Julia Roberts, Elisabeth Shue, Mira Sorvino, Sherry Stringfield, Mena Suvari, Charleze Theron, Debra Winger, Kate Winslet, Kari Wuhrer, and Cordelia (not a movie star, but the same model as in the drawing of the same name).
If anyone thinks this belongs in a better category, let me know.

I'm looking for models to help me make a new project just like this one. See here for more details.

This face is indeed very harmonious and pleasant to look at but I don't like the fact that her eyes are brown.

I've been wanting to take a more controlled approach to this one, but I have a feeling the eyes might turn out brown, anyway.Β :/Β

If that happens - morph them into blue.

I don't find they are particularly beautiful. But the way you have presented them makes it look very poetic and emotional. I especially like the gaze of the profile view.

Yeah, by it's nature, it's not a real person.Β But I'm glad you like it.Β Thanks.

Absolutely stunning, Erik! Love the soft painting like finish to this. The tones are beautiful, and love how expressive the model is!

Good thinking !
I already knew about the FaceResearch site where you can produce photos like these (I even used two or three on my own site), but showing the photos in other angles is way better !!!
Must have been hard to align correctly all the photos before processing them...

It was.Β Hence the reason I want to do it under more controlled circumstances.Β It was actually this that lead me into model photography.Β Thank you.

Did you ever finish that project? The link leads back to this piece. Would be interesting to compare the two.

Unfortunately, no.Β I never got the volunteers.Β And I've tried other projects that need volunteers, I don't have much success in getting people to participate (or follow instructions).Β I'm thinking that I might need to organize an event to get people to come in so that I can photograph them, myself.

Ah, that's a shame.
How many volunteers were you missing?
Yeah, it can be hard to get people into action, especially remotely. I'd love to see the result of this experiment though. The event idea might work.

Honestly?Β My ideal would be 512.Β Which is a lot.Β And I'd like a good mix of ethnicities.Β I might be able to get that in New York.

Phew - I can see how that might be tough. Even at an event that's a stiff target, you'll likely be shooting for a day or more. How many have you got so far?

I love the 3/4 front view. Out of all of them, that looks the most stunning to me. Kudos for taking an existing concept and improving upon it!

This is quite interesting. I wonder if i'm the only one (at least I think I belong to a minority) who find these faces not attractive at all. They don't look ugly, but I think they are not pretty or beautiful. I guess i'm just not attracted to flawless perfection... the faces I consider beautiful often look a bit unusual

I'm sure you're not alone.Β In fact I'd be surprised if you were.Β The downfall of flawless is that it lacks character.Β And that's why beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Β
