Description
In this test, I have rendered a close-up of the same characters, as you can see them in the following full view:

I have changed the hair to Kozaburo's fantastic Messy and inverted Messy hairs. The Messy hair dates from 2003.
And for me it supports rather well a close-up.

In bother renders, I've setup SSS on the hair as well, thanks to EZSkin.

Both characters are P3D Anouschka by P3Design - 2012

The above half has been rendered using *AlfaSeed 's fantastic free scene, available here:

while the lower half has been rendered using my own settings.

As you can see, the original SSS skin (left side) still requires further investigation, as the color, in my opinion, looks a little too much as artificial tan.
On the right side, the interior of the mouth looks better in the lower half, but I prefer the lower-left one's eyes.

That's fine: there's still settings to investigate
In-between, you may look at the full view benefit from all details.
