Pickleweasel360 β€” Angus is Tired

Description He is so tired from posing for pictures. Why does he look so cute laying down :3 I believe this may be my favorite pose of all the ones I took today. All he is missing is an adorable curly haired cutie sitting beside him. At this scale I don't think I could make the Princess too, but if I went up to the bulky sized yarn for him, they would probably be at the right scale for each other.

EDIT: You can get the basic horse pattern now on my Etsy page. Foals can also be bought on the same listing: www.etsy.com/listing/162311822…

I'm really impressed with how natural the pose (and the horse itself) looks.
are the legs "just" tubes, or have they been "pre-shaped" while crocheting?
love the fur on the legs, too.

Pickleweasel360 In reply to janey-in-a-bottle [2012-11-20 15:30:14 +0000 UTC]

[link] shows a better angle of how the legs are shaped. The hooves get shaped and the thigh but the knee/elbows don't since this is a smaller scale figure. The giraffe I did has some but you can't really tell. Thank you, I try to get as close as I can to the real thing when I make them. It's hard though with the small scale I'm used to, but I learn with each piece. The fur is actually yarn also it's been brushed to make it fluffy.

Pickleweasel360 In reply to ashesonfire [2012-08-05 06:46:34 +0000 UTC]

I have actually, when I first started thinking about crochet I went on there and got a TON of free patterns. Even though I've only made a few of them, it was nice to have such a large amount of free ones to look at. I think I might use Etsy when I sell them. I'm still mostly clueless on how to use Ravelry's set up.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ashesonfire In reply to Pickleweasel360 [2012-08-05 14:22:27 +0000 UTC]

Well if you ever have questions about how to use the one on Ravelry, just ask! You'll probably get a whole lot more sales for the pattern on ravelry.

Vampire-Juicebox In reply to Pickleweasel360 [2012-08-03 01:56:15 +0000 UTC]

Now I'm super jealous XD I've been doing this for like 4 years, but I didn't make anything for over a year because I lost interest and then I stop making things for months at a time. Your Angus looks super good and it already has me admiring your yet to be made Epona.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pickleweasel360 In reply to Vampire-Juicebox [2012-08-03 02:21:55 +0000 UTC]

I get burnt out on projects when I want to start something new. Sometimes I wont crochet for days. Eventually I will probably stop for a while, but for now I'm eager to make new things. Thank you so much! I really love his fluffy feet. A lot of people have suggested Epona, so I think when I have time I will make one to sell. Angus is staying with me but I have a feeling someone will want one eventually.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampire-Juicebox In reply to Pickleweasel360 [2012-08-03 02:27:57 +0000 UTC]

His feet are my favorite part! How did you say you did that with the yarn? I recall something about a wire brush. You're way better at sticking with it than I am. I'm also terrible at taking breaks and stretching so I've got a kink in my wrist so you should watch out for that!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pickleweasel360 In reply to Vampire-Juicebox [2012-08-03 02:46:05 +0000 UTC]

I use a wire brush and brush out whichever part I need to be fluffy. Its much better than using fluffy yarn, at least I think so Its just a dog brush. They make smaller ones but this one has a wide base so you can get a lot of force out of it.
Oh man, if I do it for a long time my hands will go to sleep. My left thumb would lock up at night because of it for the first few months. My hands still go to sleep a lot if I'm working on a large piece. The internet is a good distraction/break haha.

Vampire-Juicebox In reply to Pickleweasel360 [2012-08-03 02:48:29 +0000 UTC]

XD Yes the internet! I always watch videos of people playing scary games while I crochet, so then I'm distracted and not too scared, but then I think The games aren't all that scary til I try to play them myself. I would have never thought of a dog brush as I have never had a dog. I'll keep that in mind the next time I go to my local pet store.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pickleweasel360 In reply to Vampire-Juicebox [2012-08-03 20:26:45 +0000 UTC]

What kind of game do you watch online? I've only played one that I thought was creepy/scary and it was a Japanese game called Siren for Playsation 2. Just the way the game was set up you could see through the eyes of the enemies creeping around. They could get so close to you and your like O.O go away! Its so dark in the game you really can't see the enemy until its about to get you. CREEPY.

I would be so much more distracted if I had high speed internet. Deviantart, Etsy, and Facebook really are my only distractions. I would be on youtube all day if it didn't take hours to watch a 3 minute video.

The dog brush works great. It has an arch to it so you aren't putting too much pressure on your work. I wish I had a small one too so that I could get in detailed spots. Its too big for things like small ears. You should get a dog! I've had them all my life they are amazing.

I watched a playthrough of siren blood curse! It was like a remake or reboot, but it was really creepy! I watched Dead Space, and it didn't bother me so I bought it. Now the Dead Space videos scare me more because I can empathize. I'm directly plugged into my internet cause my stupid wifi doesn't work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pickleweasel360 In reply to Vampire-Juicebox [2012-08-04 01:22:44 +0000 UTC]

I played it when it came out and it freaked the crap out of me, but then I found a copy of it for like $3 and had to buy it, I still haven't beat it. I rented the Dead Space game once, I didn't really get into it. If I had gone farther I probably would have liked it, but I had just rented it because it was new.

Cool, I have a Ps3 but I have never got online with it because I have no way to do so. Even if I did it would suck trying to with dial up. We are looking into getting wifi though, so maybe I can one day! Do you have an ck oof xbox or a playstation?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampire-Juicebox In reply to Pickleweasel360 [2012-08-04 01:29:26 +0000 UTC]

I have an xbox360,ps2, ps1, and a wii. I plan on getting a ps3 after I finish furnishing my living room as my family has never had any Dead Space gets pretty bad when you're by yourself, especially at some parts where there's unkillable enemys so you have to wait it out or run. The only I don't like about my xbox is that I had to PAY for online services. I can buy things online for free, but if I want to do anything then I have to pay, which isn't worth is as I don't know many people with the same games. There are some pretty nice ps3 exclusives out there so I'll definitely be getting one. I bought all my games used at gamestop when they were having buy 2, get one free sales. Also ebay has some pretty good prices.

I still have my ps1 and ps2, i have a wii, nintendo 64, super nintendo and i used to have a sega genesis for a long long time. I don't get the chance to play with a lot of people anymore. I used to every now and then with my cousin but he doesnt talk to anyone but his girlfriend anymore. Paying to play online would suck. Especially since I can play for hours at a time, thats a lot of points! It would be neat playing with people from all over the world. Is it like a membership thing or do you pay by the session or what?
I got mine from game stop too. I used to go there a lot, but now I can go months with not even turning my playstation on.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampire-Juicebox In reply to Pickleweasel360 [2012-08-04 05:02:39 +0000 UTC]

I have to pay monthly or annually. It's cheaper annually( as in more cost effective) but I don't feel like paying $70 when I can go months without paying. And then some companies like EA like you rip you off just a bit more by making you pay monthly to have an account to have access to online multiplayer for some of their games(like Dead Space). Just good old job with someone next to me is good enough. It's more fun that way too, especially Left 4 Dead
