Description
Made for my new friend Winchester on Feral Heart. He used to play Okami when it first came out like I did. He said he likes Issun since he would call Ammy a furball haha.Anyway, first human!!!!!! Ahhhh! It came out better than I thought it would. Lesson for the day, I hate felt....even more haha. Felt hair is crazy hard! High five to anyone who uses it.
The bug helmet is removable along with his cape. The cape is made of felt so the little tie in the front is very delicate. He will sit it on the shelf but if anyone else wants one of these let me find a stronger material first. That way it can function better.
He doesn't have a paintbrush! O.o!!!! He has some old ones laying around he is going to pose him with so he said I could skip it. What do you guys think? Next time should I try for a paintbrush too?
The helmet is a bit too thick where the face is, because I made a circle and folded it in half. Seemed like the best way but its really bulky, oh well he said he likes it. I also wasn't 100% sure how the design was supposed to look. I saw different designs when I looked on Google. So I stuck with the two orange crescents.
I like this pattern and have already got some suggestions on what characters to make next like Ponyo and Sosuke. What character would you like to see it styled after next? I plan on making some larger more detailed versions for characters like Fujimoto, but this pattern was small because Issun is small. Leave a comment on what characters you would like to see or go to my journal to make suggestions.

I do not know who this character is, but he is so cute! I can't get over the greatness of that hat. Mostly I wanted to say congratulations on your first human! He is a very good human! My first human was so embarrassingly bad that I took down any pictures of him from the internet. It didn't help that I ran out of yarn before he got arms...

He is from the game Okami. He is a little inch high painter who goes along with Amaterasu on his adventure. He often calls Ammy a furball or just whatever he can think of. Here is a chibi version of him. [link]
Thank you! I wanted to keep him small because I'm bad with large scale things. Small and cute seems to be my thing haha. I deleted some of my first pieces just because I've made better things since then. I want to make bigger things so I can have hands that hold things, but this is a good start. :3 If I do I might have to send him to visit your stop motion human.

This game sounds so adorable- I feel like my childhood was not all it could have been now...
I gave all of my first creations away to friends, so I forget how bad they were until I go to a friend's house and there they are! Being not very good. But well loved! I also have pictures somewhere, just to remind me how far I've come- that is important, I think.
Part of me wants to create an extended universe in which my dolls interact with other people's dolls through the comic, and possibly characters in other art mediums as well... but seeing as the comic isn't really started yet that is probably getting a little ahead of myself.

I played part of it, I rented it but had to take it back. It was very unique, the graphics looked like a ink painting. The only part I didn't like was everyone's voice sounds like chipmunks.
I gave a lot of my first things away. I gave them to my best friend Amanda, she and her nephews/nieces have a lot of my projects actually haha. My first thing I gave away was a Hamster, to this day I hope she doesn't notice how crooked the ear was :3. That's why I kept most of my pics, I want to show how I've advanced. Its like computer graphics! Everything has a Before Jurassic Park and After Jurassic Park level of graphics haha.
That would be amazing. I would defiantly send something to have a playdate with your pieces. I would only do that with a handful of people though. Some of them might say it got 'lost in the mail' while they are secretly playing with it in the corner. Look at me I'mma unicorn!
That makes me think of the images where something is going offscreen and appears on another one. If you do I would love to join you! I think with the Haku tutorial I'm going to be making I will have Haku interacting with the pieces in progress and make comments.

Oh my goodness, having Haku twisting around the pictures and diagrams in the pattern and offering additional hints and advice would be perfect! Especially because he is so long and bendy- he will do the job perfectly. Plus I bet he is a very helpful dragon.
Physically sending dolls might be a very dangerous game... Perhaps a safer approach would be to take pictures of all the dolls at their separate residences and edit them together into cohesive comics. I've designed a bunch of demons (and angels and a few other varieties of spirit) to be characters in the comics, but once I've made as many I feel I need to create my side of the story, I'm thinking I'll invite other artists to create more demons and make their own little comic adventures that can contribute to the world. Again, I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but some day I think this would be huge fun!

Oh my golly goodness, you rarley see Issun getting so much love, and you have indeed given him love-and-a-half! He's precious! He's practically the same size as the real Issun!

Thank you so much! I looked up Issun in the artisan crafts section here on DA and there wasn't a whole lot of pieces with him. I really had fun making him. I'm glad he was small since I've never made a human before. I wish I had some thinner yarn I could have made him much smaller. Without the helmet/hat he is just barely taller than a 12oz can of coke. I can never find my ruler when I need it haha.
I learned a lot with this, I will try to make some more humans soon. Probably not til after Christmas though. So many holiday animals coming up haha. The next one, I think will be the Chihiro to go with Haku. Although I'll have to make her extra small.

Making Chihiro sounds like quite a challenge! Especially compared to the size of your Haku, but dang, you should definitely do it. I'd love to see more people from you. You have suck a nice style with limbs and thin appendages.
I chuckled at your hatred of felt. I don't use it very often, but when I do, I usually enjoy working with it. Haven't tried making hair out of it, though.
Wait a second. How is Issun standing up? What magic is this?

Thank you! :3 I know I'm probably going to get some extra thin yarn or something. June is already begging for a human form of Ponyo :3 I really like making the thin limbed amigurumis. It really increases the range of motion they can have.
-Drop kicks felt into a volcano- Felt is really annoying. I don't even like touching it its all scratchy and gets lint everywhere haha. I try to use stiff felt or sticky sided felt but I didn't have those colors. I've seen people use yarn for hair but it always sticks up when its not supposed to.
MAGIC!!! Just kidding. I wish he could stand but his little feet are to small. I used pins to create a kick stand of sorts for him to lean on. Its the same technique I used for Angus.

My next endeavor, I need to try felt for hair. Actually, scratch that. Nothing needs hair. Ever. I swear I would make so many more ponies if they were bald...
Ponyo! That would be fun to see. She's rather short and...poofy. Well, her dress is poofy. Or her knickers. Knickers? Sure.
Neat! That's a great idea. But you probably could have conviced me that magic was at play.

If you do want to try felt hair I would use paper to test your shapes. I cut out paper and pinned it in place so I could tell what size/how many pieces I need. Much easier than cutting felt.
I can just see trying to make her a little poofy accessories haha. I might have to bust out the needle and thread and make a tiny plush outfit for it.
:3 I'm skilled at Dark Arts & Crafts haha just kidding.

This is amazing! You did him so perfectly! I used to have Okami on ps2 and I loved it, but then traded it in when it came out on wii :C I was wrong, the controls are terribl.

Thank you so much! I played it on the PS2 when it came out, but I only rented it. I've heard before the Wii version wasn't very good because of the controls. I don't play the Wii much because all our rental place has is board game and dance games for the Wii.

We had a Blockbuster and Movie Gallery but they both closed and now we have a family video. There is a couple Red Box locations but I don't have a credit card/bank card so I can't use them.

I usually do that to whenever I get games, I think the last one I bought was Siren for PS2 because I wanted to go back and try to beat it since it freaked me out to much when I was a kid.

I got close to the end. I just keep having to re-do levels to get things I missed that I had no idea I didn't get haha. I went online and looked up a walkthrough just to get it right. I got WAY farther than I did when it came out. It got even creepier and disturbing, I'm glad I didn't find it earlier. I played Devil May Cry 3, but that's the only one I got to play. I loved it though! Dante is SUPER awesome! Why can't we have more characters like that instead of sparkle vamps!

I saw some people play the newer Siren games but they were laughing and stuff so I was like that's not scary XD.
