So this one was indirectly and unintentionally but pretty much entirely ArcherVale 's fault for two reasons:

She showed me this absolutely brilliant pose reference program terawell.net/terawell/?page_id… which has perfect for my recent self-inflicted challenge of drawing more interesting and complex poses/perspectives.

When I'm bored I scroll through her tumblr and she reblogged this archervale.tumblr.com/post/145… (beware of spoilers) AND NOW I'M OBSESSED WITH THE SONG THEY USED and it (kind of?) fed into this picture xD

That aside, I have been wanting to draw something like this for a while, so it's not completely Archie's fault...xD In essence, what this is is a redraw of something I drew back in February 2014 called Ready Aim Fire , in which I jokingly said 'hey maybe Ex!Clint developed explosion powers but ha ha just kidding that probably wouldn't happen'. And then by June 2014 it had become au!canon...

Thoughts behind this: Clint develops small-scale nitrokinesis (allowing him to create small explosions/concussive forces, and perhaps manipulate larger, extraneous explosions) whilst still under experimentation at the Facility. The power is imperfect - it's volatile and difficult to control, and the scientists work on getting it more precise and enabling him to create larger explosions. In the end, they can't perfect it and it's becoming too dangerous so they do something that suppresses the power (and Clint's memories of ever developing them) in the hopes that he won't be able to use them again. I imagine there was some kind of continuous mental suppression exercises that they conducted on him whilst he was at the Facility to ensure they stayed dormant...but, of course, Clint and the other experiments escape. And eventually the powers start to re-emerge.

It's actually quite scary for the experiments, because not only does Clint have dangerous powers that he can't control, but the group also realises that the scientists can incredibly effectively suppress their memories...so they have no idea what else happened back in the Facility that the scientists didn't want them to know about. The impact this all has on Clint's mental state/his relationship with the others as his abilities become more dangerous is not good - and this picture is kinda supposed to represent that. (I think drew something metaphorical? I don't know xD)

Aaaaanyhow, I hope you like it! I'm really really proud of how the pose/perspective came out!
