And right now I'm on another challenge.Β The Palette Project,Β a seven-month long color challenge, is a series where I create new illustrations each month based around a central color.Β

I've never drew the bg first and then the character, but I have to try it sometimes! Even if I'm very bad with backgrounds...
Thanks a lot for all your tips, they are really useful! ^^Β
The result it's amazing and I especially like the purple-ish tone! *O* But for Alice's lineart, you put the colours on top of it? Because at some parts we can see the lineart but at some parts no, and I like that effect!

I really enjoy your work, and I appreciate these chances to peek over your shoulder and see how you do things.
Seeing how you work with layers digitally reminds me of the classic cartoon productions of the 30's-40's. They'd manually create layers using a painted background, and added characters and other elements on acetate cels. The technique is basically the same, just achieved with different tools.

And I have this annoying habbit whith slowly leaning too close to my drawings when I draw. As in only af few centimeters away from the paper.Β
Any good tips to sit straight when I draw?
I only ask because I noticed in your tutorial video you sat straight up when you drew, and need to do that, to avoid damaging my eyes even futher but habbits are hard to break.Β

I know this is none of my business but I have/had this problem too. When I was in school I would break Β IDs from accidentally leaning on them when leaning over my paper.
They sell some support spandex like vests that are supposed to help. I myself have never one.
I recommend getting a tall, thick book or binder or even a piece of wood and placing it in between your stomach and the table/desk while you work so its sandwhiched in between. I used to do this with my textbook at school and it forces you to sit straight because you either can't bend or its plain uncomfortable when you do. I'm not an expert but it could help.
P.s at the top of this step Β by step it mentions he uses paint tool sai and photoshop

I would try that next time I'm drawing, that can might help to not ruinning my eyes even further. ^.^

Hey, I just like seeing the thought process behind how you work and the order by which you go about doing things.Β Backgrounds are one of the biggest things I need to work on personally, partly because I'm just too lazy/busy to bother most of the time and partly because I'm so overwhelmed and often don't know where to start.Β Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

so what you basically do is you sketch traditionally, then color digitally?
its really nice to see a step-by-step by other artists to see their progress. every artist's process is different ;v;

Again a great tutorial!
It's still a bit hard for me to see where start the digital part, means you're very good I think ^^
I didn't quite understand how you stepped from step 6 to 7 with Alice painting though.
Thanks for doing these tutorials, with you wonderful artworks!
