Description
They were waiting, as promised, when the duo arrived. The General, icy and still as always, barely acknowledged their arrival, keeping his eye instead on the waiting crowd of splicers gathered on the other side of the room. Dissidents and suspected traitors all, she supposed. His attendant, the hulking splicer from a few days prior, greeted them with a curled lip."So this is the finish of your little project, eh?" he asked, giving the little girl a cold look-over. She met his eye for a moment before hiding her face timidly behind the collar of her handler's jacket. He snorted.
"Doesn't look like much to me."
"Well, maybe you're not looking hard enough, ratbag," snapped Kate, boosting the girl up in her arms, "This kiddo's more than a match for you."
The splicer sneered, giving her a doubtful, derisive look.
"Nice getup you've got her in there," he added after a moment, jerking his head toward the trembling girl, "Looks like the dress just came out of surgery."
"Never said I was a seamstress," she replied, setting the child down and giving her a gentle little push toward the waiting crowd, "Go on, love, it's alright."
The Sister stumbled forward a bit, turning back to give her handler a wide-eyed, uncertain look.
"That's it," she coaxed, giving her charge an encouraging smile. Turning to the General, she added dryly, "Watch closely."
Taking a deep breath, she called, "Alright, sweetheart; Go Get Them."
The change was instantaneous. The little head snapped up, and the luminous eyes blazed up bright red. With a feral scream that seemed almost too loud for her small frame, the girl threw herself into the pack of splicers, huge gouts of flame erupting from either hand.
Instant chaos.
All over the group, splicers screamed in pain, swore, scrambled away. A few made a break for the exits, only to be stopped dead in their tracks as the Sister seized them in a powerful telekinetic grip, dragging them back into the fray. With another wild howl, she let out a burst of psychic energy, drawing the room's assortment of debris into a whirling cyclone of broken glass and twisted metal.
The remaining splicers didn't stand a chance.
The Sister threw back her little head, shrieking triumphantly at the ceiling and firing a few random bolts of electricity in either direction.
"Good girl," called Kate, tensing momentarily as the blazing red eyes whipped around to fix on her and the girl let out a little snarl, "You Got Them."
As suddenly as it had come, the rage drained, and abruptly, the child let out a cry of fear, staring horror-stricken at the gory mess around her.
"Bloody," she whimpered, covering her eyes with her hands and trying to make herself as small as possible, "Bloody, bloody, bloody everywhere!"
For once, the attendant was absolutely silent, jaw hanging open. Kate gave him a sardonic, wolfish grin before she turned back toward the General.
"Well?"
For a moment, he simply watched impassively, eyes cold and calculating. Then finally, he intoned, "Impressive. Can you manage a few more?"
She nodded.
"If I'm provided with the subjects, I can."
"Right. I'll see that you get some."
With a final curt nod toward Kate and a cursory glance at the chaotic battlefield, he whirled on his heel and stalked off, his attendant scrambling to keep up with his rapid pace.
As soon as their footsteps faded from hearing, she crouched, opening her arms and calling, "Here, love, come on now." The Sister gave a last little sob before slinking over and allowing herself to be picked up.
"Did-did I make them into angels?" she asked, still trembling slightly.
"You did, lovely. They were going to hurt us, but you stopped them. You made them into angels before they could."
The little girl sniffled, but seemed to brighten at the thought.
"Really?"
Kate nodded. The lie felt odd and heavy on her tongue.
"Really. You did very well. Now, how about we get you cleaned up, and then maybe we can find you something good to eat, hmm?"
"A-a-alright," she yawned, settling her head down into the woman's shoulder, "And then can I play with Big Sister?"
"If you don't decide to take a nap first, kiddo," Kate chuckled. The girl responded with a sleepy little moan.
For what seemed like forever, she stood right where she was, cradling the dozing Sister in her arms and surveying the carnage.
Did I… did I really do the right thing, turning her into this… this hair-trigger demon?
She hazarded a glance at the sleeping child before shaking her head and turning back toward her office.
Well, she's alive, isn't she? That's got to count for something…

Neeeeeeeeeat!
About time Cupitoris Caeles got some new tech.
XD
Yeah, hopefully soon I'll begin posting more of my badly-written Audio Diaries, maybe providing a few more types of splicer or something, here and there.

It was ~iPineapple 's idea. I just did some writing hurr durr
I have a couple splicer ideas, too, but I can't draw, so I'll have to think of a way to get them in somehow. I get the feeling that's more Levine's domain, anyhow.

Yeah, well. They're still awesomely-written segments.
Welp, if you need someone to draw your splicers or whatever, I'll give it a shot. I mean, I'm terrible at drawing in a style people can take seriously, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
Besides, Levine's really just Galt's underling, it's highly unlikely she's the only one researching new methods of splicing.

Pfff, thank you
At this point in her characterization, Kate's more about intelligence and spy work. The Little Sister project is really kind of an excuse she uses to justify trying to prevent at least a few of the kids from being Harvested.

Aww, no probzorz.
Ah, I see.
Yeah, Levine's pretty much all about improving on already-created designs, in whatever way she can. Usually through a large amount of trial and fail.

That's the scientific method! No, seriously, it is. If it doesn't work, change something tiny and do it again.
Oh! Right, forgot one. Intelligence, spy work, and revenge. Reveeeeeeeenge!!!

*sheds a single epic tear*
It's not just Tenenbaum. She's out to get someone else, too. But Tenny happens to be first on the ol' hit list, so...

Well, naturally.
Tenenbaum's managed to make quite a few enemies amongst Cupitoris Caeles.
Then again, everyone wants the Little Sisters.

Well... Technically, they're more of a food source sorta thing.
Thus, most Splicers hate her, because she seems to be hogging all the ADAM for herself.

Indeed. It's like taking away a drug addict's fix, only they need their fix to keep on living.

I feel bad killing them a lot of the time... they just want to get on with their lives, man, and all of a sudden here comes this bad thing and they freak out and attack and-and I have to wrench them :C

Me too - Sorta got easier later on when you grow more accustomed to fighting for your life, but still, splicers are probably the most tragic common enemies I've seen in a video game.

Yeah... you can tell they've all got their own stories, problems, delusions of grandeur... you're really the interloper in their little world.

And the most tragic thing, is that they're so trapped in Rapture, they're beyond saving.

Nope, ain't played it yet - I've got the PC version of Bioshock, and apparently, they somehow can't port it over to PC.
Which sucks.
>_<
Sooo... I'll just have to make do with borrowing a friend's copy of the PS3 version.
I'm betting it's gonna kick ass though.

Bleh, it sucks what they did with the PC version. I'm thankful my computer sucked at running it and forced me to buy a console now, though.
Oh, it kicks major ass. There's a plot twist that... well, you may see it coming, but I didn't
It's not really relevant to the plot, what I was going to say, but I will not spoil it for you, either, unless you want it ruined.

T~T
Ah well, I'll just try to forget about it, and concentrate on a linear storyline.
