The 1991 crisis was thought to be the last moments of Russian socialist experiment. Since Stalin's death,an slow but clear decline in living standarts,life expectancy,economy and many other matters could be identified,which pointed to the fact that the long-time ideological enemy of the United States was losing the Cold War. Promotion of Western liberalism inside Soviet territory,along with a overall degeneration of responsible Soviet goverment apparatuses being unable to counter it finally revealed the scars that have been ignored for a long time. Of course,it would only make sense if such an dysfunctional state collapsed. However,a clique of military and civillian leaders had different plans,and the Soviet state was rescued from its' long expected demise in August of 1991. Gorbachev,Yeltsin and other individuals who were deemed responsible were executed for treason,and a period of reconstruction and recovery under the State Committee of the State of Emergency began. These "reforms" would help USSR last to the next millenium,but the new one would be just as harsh as the previous one.

Modern problems require modern solutions,yet the incentives SCSE took were temporary and obsolete in this world,which have virtually done nothing to fix the problems that prompted the coup in the first place. Many of the surviving Warsaw Pact countries which did not fall to revolution,saw the Soviets' situation before the crisis,and began to look for measures to secure their rule. Fortunately for them,an answer was found in the Far East,where China's Dengist success attracted the attention of them and was adopted by most of the bloc. The threat of a intervention did not exist,as it was clear that Soviets were already having a hard time keeping itself afloat,let alone the rest of the bloc. Relations between Beijing-Moscow has been sour for decades,and a proposal to accept Dengism was shot down quickly withn the SCSE,However,SCSE lacked any other measures,meaning that the post-coup goverment had no real economic plan for a couple years. It is worth noting that an slow divide between SCSE began to emerge during these economic debates,which began to pool to the either of Leningrad of Moscow wings.

Any major conflict would not occur until 2011,when after a period of unexplained and cryptic transmissions,the Leningrad wing declared the goverment residing in Moscow was illegitimate. Slowly,the troops loyal to each side began to seize territory in the RSFSR. However,any hope for a quick end was squashed,as both sides controlled nuclear weapons which made any kind of progress impossible. The premises of "brotherhood" was immediately forgotten as Hungary seized Carpathian Ruthenia and Romania took Moldova and some of Russian coastline. Ukraine was not happy with this,and independence was soon declared,and the republics of Lativa,Estonia,Lithuania,Azerbaijan,Armenia,Turkmenistan followed suit. Tajikistan would leave the Union after an Islamic takeover funded by Pakistan.
