It looks big and fuzzy in the preview because that's the layout of Ezimba, it makes smaller things like icons larger (which is VERY helpful for many things) just save the file and it'll still be the same smaller and crisper thing it always was. uvu

Well...I've never used that website, so idk..
I'm assuming you're saving your file as a JPEG, which can cause your icon to get 'fuzzy,' so I suggest saving as a PNG if that is an option.

How many layers did you end up using for this? I always have trouble with too many or too few layers ><'' like, do the shading and coloring have separate layers? I know the outline is its own layer, but how does the initial grey shading overlap with the other colors of the other layers? I am completely confused by that DX

Piirustus In reply to malfunctioninghero [2013-07-06 01:54:40 +0000 UTC]
ah sorry I nv answered this..
My layer count differs...though I normally get by with just one layer for the sketch and one for the icon. Unlike digital painting, nothing is really going underneath the outline because pixeling is so exact. IF you want to be safe, you can do a separate layer for each step of the tutorial. It really can't hurt, but it can be a little confusing with so many layers.
"how does the initial grey shading overlap with the other colors of the other layers?"
--I mentioned that briefly in the tutorial. You have to color them yourself. "Finally, color the outline (the non-black outline) a darker version of the shading color." You need two colors here as I have two shades of outline colors.
Does that help?

malfunctioninghero In reply to Piirustus [2013-07-06 07:26:19 +0000 UTC]
Yeah it does. so if you have a light grey in the under layers that it would reflect in every layer above it with cell-shading? huh. I have to try that sometime...

Depending on what program you use, this is done in different ways, you'll have to look up a tutorial for your program.
For photoshop you simply delete the "background" layer.

I used photoshop elements, but most programs allow you to pixel: gimp, SAI ect.
