*sigh* This place isn't quite where the worse of the wild wild web hangs out flinging figurative monkey feces in lieu of public debate, but I hate that I still hesitate to attempt to HELP people by posting this, because of all the triggered contrarians that are likely to show up to argue about the data.

I spent a few weeks this summer working pro bono on this instead of my contracted work because I think it matters. So that kinda implies that, for me, denialist or minimizing positions to this crisis in comments here are gonna go whoosh outta the mental window too, yeah?

I hope yall are getting good information - although Twitter going belly-up shortly sure won't help - and trying to be as sensible about this as seems rational to you. Me, I've been doom-scrolling a-plenty, I'm pretty sure shit's still dangerous, re-infections are re-rolling the dice with an increased negative modifier each time on it not being just a case of a coupla days of sniffles, medical peeps are finding more and more post-infection leftover f*ckery, and too many people are entirely too comfortable with the death rate and overall ableism and pretending it's all over - and in the light of all that it is just not that big a deal to think physics and open a damn window, and wear a mask on public transit & in crowds sheesh. And yeah, that downer/common sense attitude can be alienating sometimes! And I'm aware I'm lucky enough to mostly work from home - and in a country where politically-polarized anti-maskers aren't frequently armed and dangerous to engage.

ANYWAY I hope this may have clarified some things you weren't sure you'd grokked, I hope it can be useful, and all my hugs to teams BringBackMasks, CovidIsNotOver, CovidIsAirborne, and Not-comfortable-carelessly-contributing-to-global-viral-spread.
