Description The Nintendo Wii will include TurboGrafX-16 and Genesis titles for its download service, which of course adds another thick layer on the Wii cake. In my opinion, I don't think the PS3 even stands a chance against the Wii. The X360 will probably do better than the PS3 for sure, but Wii has become too powerful for Sony to handle. And it's thanks not only to their development team, but also to their friends at Sega and Hudsonsoft. Bonk is eternal, sucka!

Man o Man. That is just tops. I didnt know anything about turbographx but I played Super Bonk on SNES... so I already knew that Bonk was great before I got a Wii. However I knew nothing of Air "Zonk" ...he was pretty kickass too. I wish they got in brawl but ah well.

Truly a great trio are they.

i tell you, there's nothing better than Bonk,
i still have a hard time beating the first game after 14 years,
in fact i wish HE would be a character in Brawl!

think that'd be bonktastic? XD

BONKTASTIC. New phrase, me likey.
Yeah, although he'd make a great character in Brawl, I still think Sonic has roughly a 95% chance of being the other third-party character. It's either him or Mega Man, whose games have all been on every good Nintendo system in existence.

Well, at one time, he wasn't, back when Sega was still a powerhouse. But lately, they've been having a lot of trouble: whiny purist fanboys have rejected them because of 3D Sonic (They haven't played the 2D handheld Sonics, mind you), their Dreamcast tanked for some unexplained reason, many of their franchises have either gone missing or belly-up... Times have been hard on Nintendo's former fiercest competitor. Now, they just stick to making games for all three major systems, making them into a third-party publisher.
They also helped design F-Zero GX for the Gamecube (Which was the greatest game in the series, btw), so that means they've worked closely with Nintendo before. The two Japanese publishers seem to be on great terms with each other, so people tend to think that Sonic could appear in the next SSB game.

F-Zero GX was published by Nintendo, but it was programmed by Sega, the AV team, specifically. It turned out to be a really awesome game.

PilgrimJohn In reply to Realm-Of-The-Shadows [2007-02-20 02:40:50 +0000 UTC]

Because F-Zero is a series well-known for its massacre race battles and vicious personal rivalries between the characters, the difficulty is predictably ridiculously high. I think it's important for F-Zero to keep that edge to it; without it,s difficult challenges, I wouldn't be playing the game. Most games I play these days are easy enough to complete in a few hours. I want a game that will kick me down the stairs if I look at it funny. F-Zero GX is one of those games.
Also, I read that you can unlock all the AX characters by completing the Very Hard mode Story missions... But I can't even complete the Hard missions. Maybe there's a walkthrough to help people like me out there...

Gahhh, no... I couldn't. Actually, I went back and am playing the game now. I've beaten diamond cup, but only in Standard as Blue Falcon and Little Wyvern.
However, I've read that you can unlock the AX racers by beating the Story missions on Very Hard, so that's what I aim to do.

Realm-Of-The-Shadows In reply to PilgrimJohn [2007-02-21 05:58:14 +0000 UTC]

why those two?

and what do you mean AX?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PilgrimJohn In reply to Realm-Of-The-Shadows [2007-02-21 22:27:05 +0000 UTC]

Because, I'm good at playing them.
F-Zero AX is an alternate version of GX, built for the arcade. It has 12 exclusive racers, I think, and as of this writing, I have unlocked two of them (That is, Princia Ramode and Don Genie). It also has several exclusive tracks as well.
The easiest way to unlock the AX racers in GX is to go to nearest arcade that has AX, and bring your Gamecube memory card with you. Insert your memory card into the AX machine and beat any one of the AX racers until you've unlocked all twelve. Then bring your card home, plug it into your Cube, and voila! everybody's unlocked.
Unfortunately for me, none of my local arcades actually have F-Zero AX, so I'm stuck unlocking them the hard way: BEATING STORY MODE ON VERY HARD. For every Very Hard mission you beat, you get one of the AX racers in return.

It helps to use the shoulder buttons, L and R. Also, BE AGGRESIVE. Pound that X button to give your opponent what-for. When you're surrounded by badguys, hit that Z button to unleash a spin attack. Remember that killing a set number of opponents, you gain extra lives.

Realm-Of-The-Shadows In reply to PilgrimJohn [2007-02-25 06:13:43 +0000 UTC]

Z and X only work with an inclination towards the right or left, but those damn shoulder buttons slow me down too much, i hate air breaks

i beat all three primary circuits on novice finally, beat Ruby on Standard,

Story Mode is really irritating me too ch1 on hard AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Well, he's got a new game on the common, everyday cell phone. I think it's called "Bonk's Revenge." If you have a cell phone (I do not), you might want to give the game a swing.
Also, the original Bonk's Adventure is up on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console download feature. Or at least, it should be up sooner or later.

Is there going to be any new downloadable games from other consoles ,Like sega saturn, sega dream cast, sega cd,sega 32x,Gameboy,Gameboy color, gameboy advance I think It would be twice the fun and I wonder if they ever bring any downloadable cd game on the wii how much would you think it would be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PilgrimJohn In reply to PrinceFleaswallow [2006-11-21 17:50:44 +0000 UTC]

Uh...
Let me think: Sega and Hudson only pledged Genesis and TurboGrafX-16 games for the Wii-- the Genesis's VC launch lineup includes games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Ristar, and Toejam & Earl. The Turbo includes Bonk's Adventure, Bomberman '93, and Superstar Soldier. Hudson's promised over 100 Turbo games to be released by the end of 2007. Sega has not pledged any games from any of their other systems (Though that would be nice), nor have any current plans to. However, they'll be releasing games like Revenge of Shinobi III, Phantasy Star, Vectorman, and Pulseman, so we really shouldn't complain.
As for all those GB games, forget it. Unless Ninty comes out with a Gameboy Player like they did for the Cube, it isn't going to happen. On the other hand, rumors abound are saying that the Wii will have some sort of wireless connectivity with the DS (Ninty's latest handheld), so I don't think that your suggestion is too far out.
And of course, Nintendo has busted out of the gates with its VC launch lineup: from the NES, we've got titles like Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Ice Hockey, Donkey Kong, DK Jr, Wario's Woods, and Solomon's Key. From the SNES, we only start out with F-Zero and SimCity. And from the N64, we only have Mario 64 to play.
However, Nintendo has also promised Virtual Console Mondays: every Monday, Nintendo will put up new titles for download, one per retro system, I think. So even though the Wii doesn't have every old Sega and Nintendo game under its hood, there's plenty of fun here.
Oh, one last thing: you can only buy these retro titles off the Wii's Internet service using Wii Points, which can be bought from places like GameStop. One Wii Point is equal to one American penny, so if you've got spare change in your pocket, it'd be a good idea to cash it in. Picking up $20 Wii Point Cards is probably your best bet for getting a bunch of games to play on the Wii. The costs for the titles is as follows:
500 points ($5) NES
600 points ($6) TurboGrafX-16
800 points ($8) Super Nintendo and Genesis
1000 points ($10) Nintendo 64
So spend 'em wisely.
Also, if you are to get a Nintendo Wii, don't neglect Wii-specific games like Trauma Center, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, and Excite Truck, all of which have already been released as launch games. By the end of 2007, the Big N and its Wii supportive third-party pals will also have released Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Dragon Quest Swords, plus many others.

Nice picture. I've recently been really enjoying the game "Bonk's Return". I never would have thought that a Cell-Phone port of Bonk's Adventure could be this good, but it is (with improved graphics as well). If you're a Bonk fan, you might want to look into it.

Viva la Wii!
