I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding step 5.2. The coordinates you provided make the transform a straight line... (0,0) for Y is relative to the transform's origin, thus putting Y on the origin itself and yielding incredibly different (and uglier) results than your image.

Also the starter params that you have provided are not working for me - I just get apophysis errors when I try to load them in.

I have a problem with the T5 px value of 628.308% , it just makes everything disappear, the proper flame is there with the six repeating base units if i reduce the scale of the px! any ideas??

you have possibly scaled it the wrong way?

Thank you very much for this tutorial. But i have a problem. Starting at step 2.2... what do you mean by "increase the tranform triangle of xform 5 by 104.7198"? where do i type that in? i tried typing it in the 1st "x" box under transform and also did the same with the next increase of the postransform. but it doesn't give me the desired results and actually makes my checkered flame go blank. all i see is a black screen. so i tried moving ahead with more steps to see if my flame would visually show again but it never did. And also when i try pasting the flame params i get an error message.

if you take a look at the figure in 2.5 you see the typed in 104.7... in the box between the triangles the small triangle decreases and the large increases by the desired value

This was a lot harder than what I had tried previously, but I gave it a go and here's my result [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pillemaster In reply to Volneth [2011-12-04 12:22:33 +0000 UTC]

wow very cool result!
hint: play with the wights, and increase the weight of the unpolar variation to enforce the pattern and hint2: set the GlynnSim_pover value to 0 and play with the GlynnSim_contrast to get rid of the dark spots ... i should mention that in the tutorial....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Volneth In reply to pillemaster [2011-12-04 16:42:24 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I'm definitely gonna try it. I noticed that when I changed the GlynnSim_thickness to 1.3333333 the fractal became very different from the tutorial, but perhaps it has to do with the GlynnSim_power and Glynnsim_contrast since I never really experimented so much with them.
Great tutorial nonetheless!

pillemaster In reply to Volneth [2011-12-04 18:32:24 +0000 UTC]

thats correct. my error, it should be 0.13333333, thanks!

Volneth In reply to pillemaster [2011-12-05 02:20:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see. It was the first time that I used Glynnsim as well so I thought that maybe I just didn't understand the plugin at all ^^
