Description After a few requests for one I finally finished one. Started a load but never finished them. And doodled Mitch (the "eternal sketch" character given to me by *magekl ) all over it cause it looked a bit boring. And he's fun to doodle.

I apologise if it's not so great, I wasn't sure how many pictures were necessary, how much detail or explanation to put, etc.
Note that I'm really no pro, this is just my method that I've adopted, most of my technique has been acquired from other tutorials I've seen, so it's a big mishmash of stuff other people taught me. But yeah.

For Corel Painter IX. I use a bit of Adobe Photoshop CS too, but it's not necessary at all.

Lovely tutorial you've got here. One of the best I've seen for painter. Very useful since I just got painter X and its quite different and overwhelming at times (compared to PS anyways)

Would it be possible to get your settings for the tools you used? That always seems to be my problem with this new Painter.

pinali In reply to Tatious [2008-01-28 14:03:52 +0000 UTC]

Everything was default except the Acrylic brush: at least, I changed nothing since I installed it except that brush, and all the settings for that are given in the tutorial.

great tutorial! and it's a great pic too. could you tell me, is there a diffrent between Painter and photoshop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pinali In reply to silver-dog [2007-08-10 12:14:36 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Many. The biggest is that Photoshop doesn't have the Blenders.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pinali In reply to Alvein23 [2007-07-26 10:29:23 +0000 UTC]

Lal I used to have a lot of problems with backgrounds.. I just practiced and it's a habit now..

I think the thing that helps me most is not just to draw a character without thinking the background until it comes to colouring. I draw a scene, ie. I draw the background in the sketch with the characters, so I can be sure it all looks nice and like the characters belong there, because it was planned like that, not added afterwards. ^^
