Description
This ring-billed gull was on a Sanibel Island beach in the pre-sunset light. I did no post-processing because he (or she) was clearly as handsome as could be already.Related content

Whoa!! Great photo! This gull was caught with a wonderfull light. So calm, I like how its feet get lost on the water. Beautiful photo. I would only suggest to decenter the subject on the next time
Congrats

Thanks! And I agree about decentering. I just wasn't getting sharp shots when I moved the frame... need to work on that.

Which lens do you used for this photo? Maybe it's a matter of the optics.

More likely it's me not knowing how to use the various focusing methods on my camera. But the lens is a Nikkor 300mm prime.

Thanks! Who'd have thought a gull could be so good-looking?

It is indeed an exceedingly well composed, soft, and relaxing photo, Tris, but what if this bird can read? How will he feel when he sees you're not a gull fan? That he's "just" a gull? And yet you not only photographed him but posted him as well! I know that would certainly be confusing for me, and I daresay I have more brains than this guy.
But look at his shadow and how perfectly the ocean is stopped in time! Nice.

Well, it wasn't meant so much as a disparagement on gulls but a recognition that most people are not interested in gull shots. However, I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't find him/her a worthy subject.

I know, somehow I snapped it at the right moment... pure accident.

Great detail, Tris! Not typically a fan of gulls, but you've made this one look very appealing.

I'm not a fan either. I only snapped his pic because he kept wandering towards me. Seemed a friendly sort.

Thanks, Barbara! I decided that though he was "just" a gull, he looked too ravishing not to post.

I agree! I don't usually enjoy gull pics, but this one is just too pretty to pass by.
