Description So here is my 4th attempt at digital painting. After painting my beautiful wife as Wonder Woman I thought it would be fun to move on to something scarier, hence Venom popped up in my mind.

I tried to keep a very painterly quality to the picture, focusing on his upper torso and face with more detail while leaving is lower portions less defined. This way it should lead the eye to focus on the intended area. Also I've been looking at a lot of Marko Djurdevic's work (did I spell that right? LOL ) and has a very painterly quality that I enjoy.

Anyways, yada yada yada, I'm still learning a lot about digital painting but for my fourth pic I'm happy. I look forward to new pieces as I definitely have the "bug" for digital painting

About 18 hours altogether from start to finish all in Photoshop CS4

Venom rules! Great job on the face and torso. Those were indeed the first things I noticed.

By thy side,

The detail work looks good. The lighting and coloring are well executed, especially in the face. But the overall proportions look a bit out of whack. The whole picture lacks energy -- it looks like he's a puppet hanging by his strings. With this character, he could really give the painting a strong dynamic feel with a stronger pose.
