im a human tripod, what can i say!
i usually lean my back up against something, legs wide, real wide. like double shoulder length. and then i wrap the shoulder strap around my arm. look up rifle shooting techniques on how to do that.
works pretty well. after that i shoot it on a 3 frame bracket so that it takes them really quick. also you obvi dont want to be really zoomed in, cause that just makes the shakes worse.

Yeah I've never had great success without tripod and I've tried a few techniques so I try not to when possible.

Very nice shot; I thought HDR's require several shots, but this looks like a single. nice!

Technically you can take one shot, open it up in Photoshop and change the exposure values, save them and voila HDR from a single file.
It may not be the real deal but I have seen some incredible shots by using this technique and often utilize it myself.

This was several shots? I think I merged 3 on this one. Some of them were 4 but I think there was too much movement for 4...

hehe this shot really captures the "greyness" of london streets... now if only it were raining as well, dat would complete the stereotype london being always grey and rainy
