Description --details--

If you like the render, do watch the videos i made:

the girl: [link]

the bike: [link]

modeling shots from zbrush here:
[link]

a close up with only the plasma rifle:
[link]

...some details....
Bike was inspired by a drawing/illustration (the guy that made it has some really impressive stuff) you can find here on D.A.
[link]

but the character, was created after I finished with the design and modeling of the exo-skeleton.
I made it up as I went to the texturing stage of the initial models.
Long story short, modeled in Max, detailed and textured in Zbrush, Rendered in V-ray 2.0 for about 4h, editing in Photoshop

Hi John,

Was away on holiday and just saw your messages about now
I`llΒ  try to answer some things if that`s all right with you.
------------------------
You said something about gaining profit for prints? Right? No i haven`t gained any profit from your work or my work. Haven`t sold any prints in my entire life. Wouldn`t encourage people to use deviantart for printing anyway. Just use a print shop. You can download most of my images in full res.
--------------------
This isn`t a commercial work , just something made for fun and my portfolio.
-----------------
Β I have some images posted on CGHub as well. just so you know if you wanna comment or "bash" on those too.
----------------------------
Personally i don`t care about copyright laws as long as it doesn`t involve profit.Β  Innovation is killed with all these laws and patents in so may fields.
-----------------------------------
Do you want credit for using some pieces of your bike? Would have been great if you just asked nicely.

I did use some parts from your bikeΒ  as well as some other parts from other bikes that I downloaded from the web, a scene from Evermotion for the render that i modified. I don`t pay too much attention to details like that, and never will.
Just credited the guy who made the concept that inspired me for the bike.
If you just wanted a credit/mention, you could have just politely asked.
Would have been happy to do that.
ButΒ  the fact that you sent me 3 messages on individual images,Β  with explicit stuff related to financial gains and bla bla kit bashing, acting like a victim,Β  kind of turned me off on playing nice.

With or without credit you should be happy that other people get inspired or use your stuff, models, images. I would.
----------------------------------------
i did not steal your concept bike, or made any profit of your back. just liked the way some things looked on your model. Would it have been better if i spent some extra time and modeled those pieces by myself, rather than focusing on other areas?
-------------------------------------------
How about inspiration in general?Β  I`m sure that you got inspired by many things when you designed your bike right? So where do you draw the line?
--------------------------
Everything is a remake these days,
so maybe just try to be more open minded about people using your stuff and maybe send a private message for future stuff if your point is to get credited for your work,
rather than discredit me or someone else publicly.

Very Best,
C. O.

Hy pipboy3000,

ok, lets go through your "argumentation" and enjoy:

>>You said something about gaining profit for prints? Right? No i haven`t gained any profit from your work or my work. Haven`t sold any prints in my entire life. Wouldn`t encourage people to use deviantart for printing anyway. Just use a print shop. You can download most of my images in full res.

So, the fact you never sold something should make good for the fact you stole parts and used them without even crediting the creator (or asking)?

>> This isn`t a commercial work , just something made for fun and my portfolio.

Ok, now this is a lot better. I also steal stuff and put it into my portfolio.

>> Personally i don`t care about copyright laws as long as it doesn`t involve profit. Β Innovation is killed with all these laws and patents in so may fields.

So you say, you don't care about copyrights, patents and those laws, that should give artists a minimal protection?

>> Do you want credit for using some pieces of your bike? Would have been great if you just asked nicely.

So, if I break into your house and steal your TV... and later on you figure it out... will you ask me nicely, if you can get it back?

>>I did use some parts from your bike Β as well as some other parts from other bikes that I downloaded from the web, a scene from Evermotion for the render that i modified.

So you didn't really do anything yourself. You seem really innovative.

>> I don`t pay too much attention to details like that, and never will.

Yes, who cares! Dumb-ass innovative artists, I hate them too. They always create nice and beautiful stuff... I hate them...

>> If you just wanted a credit/mention, you could have just politely asked.

I often wonder, how I can make people understand very, very simple things. But I am not sure if adding another example would actually help in this case...

>>But Β the fact that you sent me 3 messages on individual images, Β with explicit stuff related to financial gains and bla bla kit bashing, acting like a victim, Β kind of turned me off on playing nice.

Damn, he is acting like a victim. Thats just weeeeeaaaak!

But to say at least something meaningful here, I just state that the answer is most probably 42.

>> With or without credit you should be happy that other people get inspired or use your stuff, models, images. I would.

About what would you be happy actually? That they like the stolen parts in your work?

>>i did not steal your concept bike, or made any profit of your back

Ehm, yes, you did steal and no, you were not able to make money with it. But the Buy button on the top right tells me, that you actually would sell them, if you could.

>> Β just liked the way some things looked on your model.

Hmm, ever had the idea to actually "ask" the artist, if you can use it? Or is that too much work. Ah, no, wait, look at the next line:

>> Would it have been better if i spent some extra time and modeled those pieces by myself, rather than focusing on other areas?

Damn. Now that is... wow. There is not a lot to say about that anymore. But I do it anyways:
YES, YOU SHOULD MODEL THIS BY YOURSELF. I hope caps magically change your perception. SURELY NOT STEAL EVERYTHING YOU CAN FROM OTHERS AND THINK YOU DO IT FOR THE GOOD OF ART.

>> How about inspiration in general? Β I`m sure that you got inspired by many things when you designed your bike right? So where do you draw the line?

Where did you learn that inspiration equals stealing? Maybe you should change your school.

Maybe you could write some more funny stuff?

i`ll give you a +5 for the sarcasm. but other than that it`s clear that we have different perspectives about how the world should turn. There`s no point in any further debates on this subject.

Hi, C.O.Β I was busy too, so my answer is a bit late too.

I don't have to politely ask you for anything! Like "checkyourbrain" wrote:

>>So, if I break into your house and steal your TV... and later on you figure it out... will you ask me nicely, if you can get it back?<<

That's exactely how you think. But I tell you what:

You will take all those images down, on cghub, deviantart and youtube and whereever else you posted it. Immediately!!!

Best Regards,

Strieder

Nice detail. I'm loving it. Sadly I have no critiques for you. If you don't mind me asking what is Zbrush? I could look it up I suppose but I don't feel like it. But yes very good job. I never did anything that detailed in 3-D model building or animation. Yes I have done 3-D animation a bit. I use a program called Animation Master. But enough about me. Keep up the good work!

worked on the modeling and texturing for about 5hr a day for a month. but i made a few videos, two renders, and every scene to set up took about 5-10h.
..
but i spend a lot of time with the design elements of the exo suit, more than the actual modeling&texturing.
