I’ve beem 10000% enamored with A Hat in Time from the second that I bought it man like
The music & characters & settings just all brEATHE the kind of aesthetics I’m into, plus also make me super nostalgic for other games. (Especially all the frickin paper mario references this game keeps under its sleeves)
Wanted to try reALLY playing with 3d layers for this. The camera moves a bit faster than I wanted but any sorta tweaks to make it slower while keeping the speed of what I made jus kinda screwed other parts up. ‘Least I know for the future hhAHA

AfterEffects is the ONLY thing besides photoshop I used for making this along with alla my other animated stuff! .;D It's been extremely fun to work with once I figured out the basics a few years back from getting introduced to it in one of my computer applications courses at college :,>

I had a feeling, but I wasn't positive! At least not with this one! I mean, 3D layers?? That is BADASS. Your fluid, gorgeous animations reminded me of someone on here who uses After Effects. His style is much different, but he gets the same gorgeous effects in his work. I became incredibly interested in that time, but as you know, I had no time for art. Every time I'm working full time + hours, I can't even relax enough to make anything. Stress consumes my life and responsibilities pile high, and I have no idea how some people do it!
But yes, I've been maaajorly interested! It just looks like so much fun! And it just seems like such a powerful tool! I've really only been using Flash Professional (which is ironic because I'm super inexperienced) xD
And only for simple, small animations. I have to look into online courses! Eeeee!

That's actually a big reason the program appealed to me so much was becaUSE the 3d layer capabilities. It gave me an instant paper mario vibe to what I could do with it which was incredibly appealing to work with .;D
And I'm curious if you're talking about at all? Cause they're an artist I found out about recently who I've definitely drawn influence from as far as effects and types of movements that he gets with his moving illustrations :,>

He's since improved! When he told me about AE, I was fascinated! But then I went inactive and had a hard time finding time to learn it anyway. It looks like it takes a long time to learn, though. Like, crazy complex!

And as far as learning it, the 'main' spot you gotta learn to get started is just how the timeline & keyframing works, since everything is built on top of that. And though I've been using it a few years now, I started to get the hang with it after just a few brief days the program was introduced to me at college! xP

Ah, I see! I mean, I have a little experience with timelining and keyframes, I use Flash Pro for my animations, but I could definitely get a lot out of learning about special effects. I have a little experience with motion tweens, as well! I'm hoping that will help! How was college for teaching you the software? Instructors can be good or bad, depending! But I definitely think it's good if you can get a course that teaches these things! The college I went to didn't have any such classes, which was a bummer.

Since it's a program I only got experience with from going out of my way to take electives that involved it, it was a really solid experience! Especially one of the very last classes I took at school which was completely focused for the program gave me a ton of resources & notes to work from
