Description
A project that I did for school. It's the best acrylic painting I've done (in my opinion). As always, don't be afraid to leave any constructive criticism.Related content

the draw is amazing!
i love the BG and the colors of this
the one that is flying looks grate even exelent but i think that the wing of that griphon that is standing need to be more round and try to make the feathers different shapes because in wings not all the feathers are the same here for example is a draw of a gryphon that mybe can help [link]
hope this is ok ^^

Thanks for the impute! A very good example indeed. I don't usually have difficulty drawing feathers and wings. I just don't think that I spent enough time on this picture as I should've. I know I spent way too much time trying to get the colour right.

I usually can't colour like that. I wanted to shoot myself by the time I told myself it was time to stop mixing the colours. In all my paintings I only use the primary colours. 3 tubes of primary coloured paint and some black and white. Initially mixing it isn't that hard, it's trying to mach the same colour you used from the last time you sat down to paint the stupid picture.

Elfwood is a fantastic website. The community gives lots of feedback and I get many more views. That picture has had the most views in my whole gallery there, more than 2 and a half thousand views! On average my pictures get about 300-600 hits. It's a good way to put yourself out there.

Beautiful. =O Really preally pretty. The wings just blow me away--the flying one is perfect. There seems to be quite a bit off with the standing on though, for one thing that "he" should have been looking at the flying one it seems to me, but there's also a bit and a half of anatomy errors that, judging by the flying one, you could approve on. ^^ But still, very nice. The colors are perfect and the rock/cliff look wonderful.

^^ As I'm always saying, you can only improve! Unless you're me. Then you're perfectly capable of stupiding and forgetting how to draw paws because you just spent three months figuring out faces and now your animals kinda look like blobs of fuzzy and you're pretty sure that only your weird cat actually looks like that.
But you're not me so you're safe. XD I'm not sure what the point of this reply was... Don't spend three months figuring out how to draw faces and then go off on some weird tangent to a random stranger? Yeah. I think that's the point I was trying to make.

Very nice. My input would be over the wings. They're very nice, but their feathers are all the same. Feather wings tend to have more specialized feathers. The best tutorial I found was here on dA: [link] The best idea for the insides are found on google: [link]
Aside from that, gorgeous lighting. I like how it's all shown in an orangey light.

Thanks for the imput. I see what you're saying sbout the wings. I did it for the underside of the wings for the one on the right, but not on the left or the top of the wing on the right. The links help. I've been trying do draw things out of my head lately and it's starting to come along. I can draw 10X beter with a reference, it's just a mater of generating in my head what I've learned to copy using references that I find difficult. Thanks again!

Ah, yes, trying to memorize all the anatomy is tough. xD I get the idea, it's a bit of a bear with mythical or personal creatures cause there's no real correct anatomy and it lets the imagination stray from what you want. Still, very nice! x3

nicely colored!
the bodies of the animals seem a little blocky though.

well maybe adding a little more features to the legs
I know a dogs leg looks a little different than that. But it's sorta hard to explain how they look XD I did notice that they don't have any noticable shoulder blades that may help in making it look more realistic. I like the heads though they show plenty of detail. maybe adding some structure to the mid body by showing the rib cage a little more. You know like a grey hound is? but of course it will be a lot less noticable because of the muscle and feathers. these are just ideas. If I was doing this myself I know that it would be very hard, so nice work!
