Instead of writing him as a super-bad-chaotic-evil-dog-kicking bastard, I'm going another approach of making him a mix of self-obsessed, hyperbolic, emotional, and impulsive.... MAYBE *I* shouldn't be drinking booze and drawing at 2 AM so there aren't so MANY careless mistakes here!
These colors look very dark on my second monitor... anyone else?

I think that's probably the most tasteful way to write Steele in general, but I think there has to be a certain level of self-awareness to it.Β He does, after all, consciously and deliberately wield a mallet with a "tragic backstory."

Now I have a weird idea. Maybe his tragic backstory should be pretty typical of most people's IRL backstories, just he doesn't take it well for some reason and believes it to be tragic?

I always thought of Robin Steele less "evil" and more immature. Not understanding that what he's doing is not only disturbingly wrong, but ridiculous.
Maybe when he was young someone said something about him being able to have any princess he wants or some other stupid stereotypical parent thing, and he never really grew up.
Less of a megalomaniac. More of a child with far too many resources.
That's just how I always thought of him...

That's pretty close to what I'm aiming for
Though, the thing about wanting any princess has more to do with believing in "true love".Β And of course, being a kid nobody liked because he was red and black doesn't help
