Description A portrait of Christopher Walken that I had to draw for an assessment task, based on a provided image. It's the first A4 size realistic portrait I've ever done.

Halfway through it, I thought I'd screwed up and almost scrapped it, but once I finished it, it was a lot better than I thought it would turn out.

I was curious to see if I could get the face to look right, so I didn't bother drawing the hair, hand or clothes properly. The hand is a little too small, his eyes a little large and his hair in the original is somewhat wilder in shape. The facial features are slightly off-position compared to the original, but I think that it is recognisable as him.

The drawing took just over 3 hours to complete.

It's instantly recognisable! Brilliant work, I think the minor flaws you point out actually add to the whole piece, I certainly wouldn't have spotted them had you not pointed them out.
I find that when creating a realistic portrait theres a point in the process where you feel like it isn't going well due to the sheer ammount of energy and concentration you're putting into it, I tend to have small breaks after a few hours, have a cup of tea and not look at it for an hour or so, then when I go back to the work I'm dying to get more done, this might work for you too.
You have produced and excellent drawing and I hope you produce more.
