Just some quick photos of I took of my newly completed Edea helmet for Otakon 2011. Bad lighting, but you get the idea.I made the entire thing, and omg I am SO glad i'm done with this stupid thing. I was getting flustered!
But YAY, now it has that weird pointy design thing on the back of the helmet that I could never seem to get before! Can't see it very well from this angle though!
oh yeah btw, those green thingies are just upholstery foam (whose name is Ethyl) stuck under the helmet to keep it in place on teh tiny wig head.

yay thanks! I shaped some wire into the rough shape I wanted, then crumpled newspaper around it to get some width. I wrapped that in masking tape, then covered it in Paper clay and sanded ...forever! lol

thanks! I sort of have a tutorial up now with some basic clay working stuff. One of my earlier helmets is used as an example in that tutorial.

Most of those things were used underneath the clay for the base of the helmet - wire, newspaper, craft foam wonderflex, Ridgid Wrap.
Then there's Model Magic, paper clay (this is what it's mostly made of on the outside), resin, foam board, polystyrene plastic (for the little fan thing), some pretty beads, and acrylic paint!

yeah man! Keepin' it interesting! lol The funny thing about the shine is that I used MATTE varnish...but it isn't very matte is it? I'm okay with the excessive shine tho!
