What I love is that this pic looks like it was made on an actual real life paint canvas. The colors mesh together well and are vibrant, and Celestia herself looks very majestic! Very well done!

This is honestly one of the best pieces of MLP fanart that I've seen. Β I really like its simplicity, texture, and semi-abstract style. Β I also really like the color composition, and don't think it's "garish" (it's meant to represent a magical, multi-colored alicorn causing a brilliant sunrise, after all, so it works well). Β If you have the inclination, I'd love to see a companion piece to this one featuring Luna!

I use Photoshop CC 2016. Brushes are at sta.sh/05iymgb956a , please note I did not make any of those brushes, they are either PS default, or downloaded from other deviants. As for technique it's mostly just traditional opaque painting technique.
Though I think you should focus more on increasing value contrast and shadow colors of your paintings instead of worrying about textures judging by your gallery.Β
