Description
The young Magus lights up both with euphoria and hunger for more as his abilities first manifest, filling his body with a palpable sensation of immense, wonderful power. If you ask me, the feeling of that sort of thing is probably a lot like sex...Pencil, then Photoshop. It's hell to draw hair that's blowing all over the place, by the way. First time I've ever done that angle of lighting too.

Your shading on this is great, especially for trying a new angle. I really love the character, and the background looks fantastic, but for some reason they dont sit well together for me. Anway, the hair is a great job, both in the shading and the drawing of all those strands.

ahh finally someone else who loves chrono trigger! It's one of my favorite games of all time. I think I've played it 6 times now. I always loved Magus. I really like your interpretation of him here. though I must say that I've never really thought of his magic as bubbley. the curl of his fingers is really well done. hands are so hard to draw accurately. but you did a very nice job! and of course as difficult as that hair had to be, it turned out extremely well and works great with the rest of the picture!

I always thought of his magic as being more shapeless. maybe a little like fire but not having any definite shape. just a menacing glow that grows out from his hands or something. I don't know. I guess orbs sounds a bit more manly than bubbles. oh well. I just don't associate shadow magic with bubbles or orbs I guess. I really need to play the game again.

And you must not have gotten very far at all... Magus is a major, major figure who appears in a flashback fairly early, and whose statue you encounter even earlier (it's in my avatar, actually!) Play the game more, though. It's totally worth it.

really nice skin toning and shading here^^ the shadows and hilights are matching really well ^^ I like how you did the indiviual strands of hair, it looks a bit better than just plasting on hair and hilighting it bit by bit like other people usually do. The purple bit looks okay..but again with the sky, the starts look a bit distracting to me, i don't knwo why. Overall, your character should have a softer line art or something. The character doesn't coonet well with the background for this weird copy/paste feeling. Maybe that's jus the real-tone plus the anime, it looks out of place. sorry

For someone who owns as much as Magus does, I really haven't seen any fanart of him either... I swear, he was hands down the best character in Chrono Trigger. The coloring for this one is flawless; even though his hair is shiny, his face still manages to look dark, just like it should, and I really like your style of showing purple, dark energy. It must have taken a long time to draw that hair blowing about so cleanly; I'm sure that it would be pretty easy for there to be some pixelated edges on something like that, but it fits in with the background just fine. That background works very well, by the way. Nothing like the infinite stars in the heavens to add to Magus' desire to obtain infinite power here. My only critique is, his arm looks just a bit too thin overall, but I can understand how that would help show that he's still in his youth, too, so it may be just me.
