Wow, this is one of the most creative 'views' I have seen. Looks like it has a story of its own.

This is sooo incredibly morbid and creepy...I love it! The environment and colors are truly terrific and what a great day for some hangin' action! Let's round up all the folks at the Capitol building and *really* test those ropes out good! Superb work and congratulations on the DD!

Seeing this image with the harsh desert colors the mud adobes and hanging men..I am transported to a future world where religious ultra extremists have taken over after a devastating world war.

That's extremely depressing. Very fitting with the theme of the picture, I'm glad it took you in the right direction...

Nice work on this, I especially love the lighting and colour palette you used. I don't think it's very terrifying but it does look like an incredible place to behold. Oh...I just spotted the hanging bodies...ok maybe a little fear enducing then The perspective is well done though I think the dip in the landscape beneath the bridge and by the stairs is at a slightly wrong angle that doesn't fit entirely with the perspective. Except for that, top grade stuff
I will be checking out the rest of your gallery tomorrow night as it's getting late and it's an early morning tomorrow.

Was going to say... you must have nerves of steel if you're saying you wouldn't be nervous as one of those little people. I learned a lot while creating this image, but you're right, the perspective is not perfect. In fact, I know a simple way to fix that problem; select and squash slightly the lower area of the image. I'm working on other things though, so I'll leave this one as it is; but I appreciate the critique very much.

It's a very nice image man and very well done. The perspective is great for the most part so I was just being picky Perspective is always a pain in the ass. I did a lot of landscape painting for my last project and so I know the trauma that perspective can cause far too well

Did you try the perspective grid method? I've tried to use that, but I don't think I'm doing it properly...

BenDouglasUK In reply to PlasmaX7 [2007-11-16 21:11:05 +0000 UTC]
yep, I used a lot of different techniques, for some i used photo references to draw in grid points and such, for some i made a crude model in 3D Studio and used that as a base to work over. A good piece of software is Teragen, the free version is pretty basic but it's great for getting ideas visualised quickly and using the render as a base to work from.

I used Terragen for a while, the problem is it can lead you to get lazy with painting.

It can do if you do it wrong Any time I use anything like 3d max or terragen I simply use them as a very simple base while setting up a perspective grid and only using them for complicated compositions with multiple planes on different levels. for anything else I use the pink mushy thing between my ears and a whole bucket full of luck

I haven't seem something like this before, very original bro. Usually when I look at a terrascape piece or something of this sort I usually just get a glorious and wonderful feeling behind it, but the hanging men in this gives me mixed reactions lol. Keep at it
