There was a discussion on a board I frequent about how the poster was so thrilled that Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee attended and spoke at the National Religious Liberties Conference, a meeting led by anti-LGBT Pastor Kevin Swanson where three different speakers, two before, and one after the candidates went up on stage to speak, called for the criminalization of homosexuality and making being gay a crime which earned execution.

The poster said that being gay was just as much a sin as pedophilia and that we should execute gays like we execute pedophiles. I had to inform him that we don't actually execute pedophiles and that the 'Merican culture he is so proud to be a part of goes a long way in supporting pedophilia even in our public media. We have a real problem in America where we sexualize the imagery of children in popular media saying, "Buy these sexy, stylish clothes for your kids to make them look as adult as possible!" and then turn around and say, "Now, no one be a pedophile!"

With all the talk of war, and politics, of terrorism and economic inequality, of corruption and racism, I just thought it might be a good idea to remind people there are some things we can change, some problems we can fix. Regulating the media and clothing industry so we don't treat our children like sex objects is a problem we could deal with, it is a problem we could fix very easily. All we have to do is care enough to put forth the effort.
