Description
I like reminding my Christian friends from time to time that they really should read their bible because what they were taught as a child was mostly wrong. One thing I never understood about this story was that Adam and Eve never stopped loving or obeying God but he punished them anyway.
What was God so afraid of?

-The snake also said their eyes would be opened, and was proven right. But why the nakedness "discovery" when clothes didn't exist in the first place?

I think they might have been saying that humans, by our base nature are so horrible, so disgusting, so evil that we couldn't be allowed to live forever or we would become vile gods ourselves.
If there is one thing the Bible really wanted kids to learn it was how terrible a person they were from the moment of birth. If you think about it, this underlying dogma explains a great many closeted gay congressmen.

The story is much older than the bible anyway, simply stolen (again ):
"In the Ugaritic myth of the great gods the biblical paradise is 'the vineyard'. Adam and his wife are among the gods who have access to the tree of life. An evil deity, Horon, wants to usurp the place of Creator God El, the highest god in the Canaanite gods world. El punishes him for this by throwing him off the mountain of the gods. In revenge Horon transforms himself into a giant snake who poisons the tree of life, which makes that all life on Earth is threatened.
The gods fear to lose their immortality and therefore give to someone from their midst, Adam, the power over the whole earth, with the intention of defeating Horon. Adam fails miserably, the snake buries his fangs in his flesh and Adam becomes a mortal being. The sun goddess offers humanity a consolation prize, though: via reproduction will man as a species yet remain eternal. To achieve this, she provides Adam with a 'benign female consort'. "

I did not know that! That is fascinating! I will study up on this. Oh this is going right into my bucket of ammo for my next "The bible is literal" debate.

The same with the flood:
"The Noah flood story is a derivative version of demonstrably much older flood epics from the same area, including the Gilgamesh epic [Sumerian], the Atrahasis epic [Akkadian], the story of Xisuthros [Sumerian], and that of Deucalion and Pyrrha [Greek], all of whom survived the world-devastating flood by setting sail in a protective ark, most of them bringing the animals along for the ride."

I'm a Pagan myself but I have theory about a demon talking as though her voice would come from a snake.

The very idea of demons is stupid. God, an all knowing, all powerful beings creates angels he knows are going to turn on him then later creates people that he knows are going to turn on him.
He would either have to be the stupidest all-knowing being or a sadist.
I'm reminded of the definition of insanity. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBDi0i…

In some versions, Satan, rather than being a demon or being that has fallen from grace, is actually a dutiful angel of god, whose solemn task is to tempt the faithful in order to weed out the unworthy.

Sounds like that would make Satan rather a good guy alongside with God after all! Reminds me of a Philosoraptor meme I once saw that said something like "If Satan likes evil, wouldn't he reward bad people in hell instead of torturing them?"
