Haha, have you tried mixing up the brushes or layer and tweaking the opacity on them, sometimes you can have happy accidents.

I love opacity at the moment! I'm still figuring how to use it best for each piece, but it saved this one for me

the smudge and blur tools help me with the blending of tools

I'll have to work with those, I tend to leave a lot of buttons alone, I'm a bit scared of them if I'm honest, it'll help me improve though so I've got to get over it!
