Description
It's been awhile since I've posted anything, but I finally got around to creating this cute little guy! The pattern I used came from . I used the the Baby Squirtle pattern that she created and modified it to create Wartortle. I'll probably fix my pattern for the tail the next time I make this character since I think it looks a little too long for the doll, but overall I am pleased with him. This was my first time needle felting anything, and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out (eyes, back and tummy stripes are felted on). I'll definitely be using this method on my future dolls. Hope you guys like it!Feel free to use my ears and tail patterns that I made. Just be sure to give credit! (And let me know if you spot any problems.)

Could you please tell what colors you used for each part? I am going to attempt this as my 1st, I'm hoping I can follow the directions properly

I think I used Red Heart Delft Blue for the head and legs, Light Blue for the ears and tail, and Cream or Aran for the bottom part of the shell. I don't remember what I used for the top part of the shell, but all the colors are from the Red Heart brand. I usually just take a picture of the creature I'm making with me to the store and match yarn to it if you would like try doing that.

The only parts I modified were the pieces for the tail and the ears. Other than that, I stuck to the squirtle pattern. Hope you have fun making it!

This is adorable. Just a question though. Did you needle felt yarn on or wool for both the eyes and back? I just discovered this handy technique!

I'm glad you like it! The eyes, back, and tummy are all needle felted with roving (which is made of wool). Hope you have fun with needle felting! I really think it makes the dolls look more stylish.

Thanks! I'm glad you found me that needle felting kit (although I stabbed myself twice XD). It really adds a nice touch to the dolls I think.
