At long last, here it is~~~ Aurora’s Bankai, from when she was first beginning to work with it was a youngster~ Kousei Bengonin’s second release form:

Tenrai Dageki

Divine Strike

Following the source for the powers imbued in Kousei Bengonin (Star Defender), the second release further harnesses that dominion above. From that array of stars in the night sky, it is manifested in accordance with the Four Guardian Symbols the constellations are tied to, in both a figurative and literal sense~

“Azure sunrise in the East...
Crimson day of the South...
Fading white hours in the West...
To the pitch black of the North...
Gather together from deviation...
Allied as one...

Under my blade, let the heavens rain down upon my enemy!”

Aurora’s Bankai has a command that activates the release (though, I’ve never heard of one, that was something I’d written one afternoon at a shop I used to work in long ago. I liked it so much, it had to stay ^u^). Until it is fully mastered, she must say the entire poem, or the Zanpakuto will not rematerialize.

In the transformation, the handler’s uniform is replaced. Clad in an ao dai, the rich, blue tunic covers darker-hued pants. Meant for ease of motion, it is a facet of the release intended to make up for its primary weakness (Tenrai Dageki’s protracted execution)

The blade alters as well, formed into a modest broadsword for her handler to wield. Quick and maneuverable, it is the simplest way to execute the abilities of her second release.

Essential to the Bankai, the functional element of its power distribution, is the ensign that appears. A reflection of the faculty it encompasses, a set of glowing marks encircle the combatant. Stretching out several feet on any side, it is thusly divided into four points (each having a character that signifies the direction it has control over; North, East, South, and West). Within this collection is a small area in the center, here all divider lines meet, giving the place for its wielder to stand without any element being active (and where the release begins).

The quadrant becomes activated once the possessor steps into one of the four sections. Once activated, a connection is spurred, and the power of that array of the stars is under the command of Tenrai Dageki. It can be utilized in two ways:

*For close-range skirmishes, amassing the force of that quadrant, the broadsword will shimmer. After burning to a bright white light, it is capable of directing that reishi in attack or defense (depending on the quarter that has initiated it). In this execution, the strikes are physical ones, doing great damage to the opponent, given the concentrated nature of the energy being dispelled.

*If a longer-range conflict arises, the ability of the Bankai can as well. The broadsword dissipates (much like with Kousei Bengonin’s Shikai when Yuugurekouka is employed), leaving her handler standing on whichever section of the ensign. The corresponding region of the sky irradiates, rendering a manifestation of the Guardian Beast that watches over the constellations therein.

Bright white, reflecting the power of its element much like the broadsword would in the fundamental aspect of the Bankai, the astral projection can be directed to fight for its caster. Powered by the accumulated reishi therein, it can attack physically, or direct that force into launched strikes (much like the offensive aspect of Kousei Bengonin’s Shikai).

Each quadrant has its own Cardinal Beast protection. Likewise, each has their own advantages, and drawbacks:

*East- Seiryuu- Is a forceful attacker with great potential to give an imposing strike. It is a slow projection, however, and takes great time/concentration to execute.

*South- Suzaku- Is a swift adversary in its hits, able to be directed with greater ease than the other aspects. The blows inflicted are not as formidable, given the tradeoff for speed.

*North- Genbu- Is a steadied defender. The power within its quadrant can be cast as a fortified barrier, largely unswerving under counterattacks. It has no attacking capability (only functional as defense).

*West- Byakko- Is the balanced combatant. With considerable potential in both speed and power, it is the most versatile aspect of the four, for most conflicts. Given the close bonds that the handler has with this region, it is the strongest execution of the Bankai. However, it comes at great cost to her person (it drains her endurance more than the rest).

Moreover, the Bankai has several shortcomings. At no time can any of the quadrants be executed at the same time (such as Aurora standing with two feet on different quarters at the same time). In any case where this is attempted, the release will waiver before buckling and collapsing on itself. This in turn will cause burden to its handler (leaving her exhausted or internal/soul damage). Should her concentration or endurance run out during the sequence, it will breakdown, in turn. Additionally, given the expanse of this release, it is very taxing for its handler to conduct for extended periods of time. The longer it goes, the longer it will take her to recover.

At this point in the story, Tenrai Dageki has not been mastered. These are Aurora’s baby steps, in her Bankai… and she has a long way to go : D Even into the next story, having gone through a few apprenticeships and holding a spot as a Lieutenant before eventually assuming her first Captaincy, she has not mastered the release (it takes her several decades beyond that to become adept with it to the point it can be executed without the need to recite the poem or call the Zanpakuto’s name).

Eventually, it develops to this point (as a sneak-peek )
