I still have that lan card in my other computer, but haven't used it since one of its hard drive failed (it contained all the programs). need to get that fixed!

fantastic detail, this os something else on my 'todo' list (circuitry, in a physical renderer), and your work looks absolutely phenominal

Thank you!
This is my first modeling of such complex objects... instead of standalone chips

yes i noticed after i went hunting for more inspiration in your gallery
love it! it does look alot of tedious work, but the results speak for themselves.
whats next? a motherboard perhaps, that you plug your chips and this NIC into?

Crazy!
Do you remember a computer from circa 1986 called the MindSet?
Only once, I saw it, on display, showing a rotating cube, in color,
that had a movie playing on each face of the cube!!
Alas, it vanished as if it had never existed.

There were so many unusual & awesome (but incompatible with each other) systems.... but finally most of them were superseded by Big Blue (or simply, IBM) systems

Cool, I have a similar card in my good old AMD 2600+ computer.
But I think I will not go online with it anymore.

Hope that it will be possible to render it on two GTX680
Actually some of such works are planned but very preliminary... I need a good reference materials and a lot of spare time

Oh. I thought it might be a tech abbreviation, like the "32" could be 32-bit.

The components look great, especially the capacitors.
I also like the reflection and shadow.
The metal is a bit dull though.

pnn32 In reply to SchwarzerRitter [2014-02-25 18:34:27 +0000 UTC]
Observed glossy level of metal depends on environment lighting... there is no bright sources.
In the other hand, some imperfections should be left.. to make further improvements and make a picture distinguishable from photo

Wow, that's bloody impressive. How the hell did you made the textures?

pnn32 In reply to stoper [2014-02-24 17:05:28 +0000 UTC]
Well, good texture is greatly improve overall look
How? Just one photo (top view) with minimal perspective distortions (it was hard with just Canon A800 ) and appropriate resolution. A little editing in Paint.NET, then UV mapping in Blender for uneven sides of board.

You know, I thought it was a real one at first and wondered why you had taken photos of it.
I have handled gazillions of these things in course of my life, and didn't even pause to consider that it might have been rendered.

Now, what you need is a cat reaching for the card with a curious paw, "Hello, what's this..."
