Those greatΒ unions that you're speaking of broke themselves up to move to other countries, have fun defending that fact.

RTW sounds good on paper, but in reality, it's bullshit. It allows people to freeload the Union's collective bargaining without having to pay the dues. Without the funding from the dues, it makes it much harder for unions to bargain for and enforce contracts that: Protect workers from being fired for arbitrary reasons like being near his/her boss when he stubs his toe (That shit does happen!), protect them from being overworked, from being put in horribly unsafe working conditions, and filing lawsuits and representing a worker when he/she is seriously hurt on or off the job.

If unions want to make a contract which does not allow for non-union members to "free-load," they are free to do so. It is only fair that people get what they pay for (in dues) and that people not get what they do not bargain for.

It also (and I think this was the main point) allows contractors to employ non-union workers for much less money (so why bother hiring unions at all?) and will lead to lowered workplace safety, fewer (if any) benefits, longer hours, etc. If you don't force businesses to adhere to the standards set by the workers (through their unions) there is little to no incentive to do so. Businesses operate on a lowest cost for production/highest profit possible system. If they can find a way to produce something for less money, they will... because that's good for businesses. What we've seemed to forget in this country is that a business is not the same thing as a person, or workers. What is in the best interest of a business is NOT what is in the best interest of the working middle class.
Also, the way my charming Governer pushed this bullshiat through was the epitomy of shady, immoral politics I have witnessed in years. SHAME on anyone whose name appears on the paperwork.

Honestly, from what I've heard of the proposed law, it really doesn't sound all that bad. I mean people shouldn't have to join or finance a union or it's activities if they chose not to. I don't see how that's a war on workers.

If you have it, post the link. I'm generally non-violent, but I'll make a one-time exception for a Fox Nooz reporter getting punched out.
