Alex woke up in Charlie's arms and cuddled to the small child that called him Daddy. He loved the sound it, the felling he got when he took care of Frank and the way Charlie Frank and him could almost look like a little happy family.
Frank turned to him and pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Hi! Could you come to the bathroom with me?"
"Sure."
They pulled away from Charlie's side and padded out of the bedroom. The four years old went to the bathroom and came out hands wet and ready to start his day.
"Hey Franky would you like to make breakfast for mommy Charlie this morning?! I'm sure he would be very happy."
"Oh yes! We could do peanut butter and jam toast!"
"Of course we could honey!"
"Do you think my real mommy is going to come back?"
"Well of course she will buddy!"
The question worried Alex a bit. I had found it odd that she left so fast the other day and never even gave clothes for the child to wear. He told himself he would talk to Charlie about it and make sure everything was okay. Frank took the man's hand and pulled it to the kitchen. Together they pulled out the ingredients and Alex put the table while the child buttered the toast.
"Daddy Alex do you think I could go wake up Charles?"
"Yup … but why don't we go together okay?"
"Okay!"
The walked to the flatmate's room and Frank went running to the bed jumping on Charlie. Alex sat on the edge of the bed pulling the 4 year old in his lap to give Charlie time to wake up.
"Hey sleepy …"
"Hi Alex… Hi Franky!"
"Charles we made breakfast for you! I want to go get it!"
"Do you need help Frank?" Alex asked worried he would drop everything and hurt himself.
"Nop! I'll bring them one by one so I don't drop them okay?"
Frank wiggled out of Alex grip and ran out of the room.
"Charlie… we need to talk. He didn't bring anything… His mom didn't even say good bye to him."
"Yeah I know… Clara is in a bit of trouble. That's why I let him stay here. He's not safe alone with his dad and Clara isn't much better."
"It isn't the first time she leaves him with a friend is it?! He asked if his mum would really come back for him…"
"No it's not … He's been left a lot."
The child walked carefully back in the room with a plate full of toast. He smiled at them. 'How could he be this happy?!' Alex asked himself. Being left alone a lot like that must be so hard.
"Tell you what Franky because you made me these today we're going to go to the Science museum! And you can meet some of our friend are coming too!"
"We're going to the science museum?! I love that place Charlieburg!" Alex cried. Obvious happiness plastered on his face. "I love you Charlie!"
Charlie turned red at the words Alex had spoken. I loved hearing those words especially from Alex.
Frank and Alex were jumping up in down when the door bell rang. The child ran to the door beating the other two and opening the door to a blue haired boy and another boy.
"Oh hi there! You must be Frank! My name is Tom and this is Edd; we're Alex and Charlie's friends."
"Hi!" the four years old turned is back at them and spoke to the two flatmates. "Mommy Charlie? Daddy Alex? Your friends are here! Does that mean we can leave for the science museum?!"
