Description

While I'm still working on my next gen, I wanted to go back and redo one of my older pieces, so here's my new version of older Snails in my next gen. In my previous version, his mane always bothered me, but I think this time I nailed the look I want for him. I also added a goatee along with his reading glasses, as I thought it would be a good look for him, and I gave him purple eyes since I didn't like how he was among the few characters without color in their eyes.

In my next gen verse, Snails is a teacher at Cheerilee's expanded school, specializing in teaching foals with learning disabilities. He himself was discovered to possess a learning disability, and as it turns out, he's a lot smarter than we give him credit for, but he learns at a slower pace than most. Cheerilee helped him through private tutoring and ended up inspiring him to become a teacher himself. Snails is married to Ponyville mayor Diamond Tiara, and they have a young colt named Crown Jewel.

UPDATE - My updated version of older Snips has been added and the duo is now complete! I decided to use the chubby stallion body type for his new version cause it felt like the most logical body type he would grow into, and wouldn't require me to redraw the face to match Snips' younger face. I also gave him a moustache cause I felt it looked good on him, and I wanted to give him color in his eyes just like Snails and went with a bluish teal based on his magic aura in the episode with the go-carts. (BTW, I think the stallion that appeared with him in that episode is his dad, and for right now I'm calling him Crewcut.)

Snips is a barber like his dad and lives in Manehatten with his wife Babs Seed and their daughter (currently unnamed, suggestions are welcome). The two work together at their own mane salon where Babs works with styling adult customers' manes while Snips is great with giving foals manecuts. For a time, he had dropped out of school and worked sweeping hair at his dad's barber shop, but a chance encounter with Babs Seed while she was visiting her cousins in Ponyville inspired him to learn about manecutting. He trained under his dad before traveling to Manehatten where he ran into Babs and the two decided to start their own mane salon together. While working together, the two gradually gained feelings for each other and eventually married.

I'm much happier with how Snips and Snails came out this time. While I was proud of how my previous versions of them came out, I really wanted to go back and give them adult designs that fit better in the MLP show style while fixing certain aspects of their designs that always bothered me (mostly their manes and their eyes, along with Snips' face). I think now they really look grown up and more mature than they looked as colts while still being recognisable. Anyway, feel free to let me know what you think of my new versions of adult Snips and Snails! I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks!
