Description I did this last year, when I was upgrading my schooling. I love oils. Another thing I can't afford or have the space to do it in.

This painting was inspired by a dream I had - vivid, over active subconscious. Crazy stuff. Just thought to share.

"It's early in the morning. A lone figure treks across the sands of some long forgotten sand scape towards the mists and mountains where ominous clouds hang over head. Dreamy. Dark. Emotional. Personally, when I place myself in the figures 'shoes', I feel a sense of awe and adventure."

Note: I took this picture OUT SIDE with a crappy digital camera.... althought it brought out the warmth of the sand and the coolness of the morning shadows it DESTROYED the morning blue/orange/pink of the sky. My house is usually too dark to take decent pictures. I'll have to arrange for a place to set the picture when the lighting is warm, but cool at the same time.

Blah.... Enjoy!

that was the hardest part of painting this.... get the color just right... this painting in real life is 90x140cm. It took me over a month to do.

And thank you for the fave!

BTW, damn... the painting is "oversize" but you can still submit a good photograph of it according to their portfolio submissions... I would attach a sheet along with it explaining that it is a photo of an original oil painting

As someone already said, the dunes really stand out in this picture. The rest is nice, but they really caught my attention. You did a really great job shading with the complimentary colors.

Sylvania makes a new lightbulb that simulates natural daylight. I've been using them in the room where I do most of my coloring and it's really made a difference. Why not try that the next time you need to photograph your art?

Great painting... when I first saw it, I thought the background was a stock photo because it seemed so real. Well done!

The figure is nice, the clouds pretty, all good... but the dunes are really stunning, at once real and surreal, a perfect compromise of photorealistic and bizzarely abstract.
At least I thort so.
