Commission for ~cascadance of her lovely mare, Dolly.(detailed subject, semi-detailed background)
Let me begin by saying that my scanner entered devil mode and I can't get anything more decent than this. It looks much better in person.
Also, I apologize for that line on the top-right corner, I was using a brush to help spread the white pastel a bit and it suddenly did that, I had no way to fix it unfortunately
I had so much fun with this
The tombstone on the left reads(or would read if it wasn't broken):
"Stop ye travellers as you pass by
As you are now, so once was I
As I am now, soon you shall be
Prepare yourself to follow me." I freakin' love this epitaph.
The more I look at this, the more I hate my scanner, but I hope you still like it Casca!

Mine has a particular distaste for works with purple and blue in it, it eats the purple and turns it blue instead, still trying to understand what's up with that.
It usually goes a pretty good job though, but sometimes it's just awful!

mine doesnt like pencil sketches where the lines are too light or skin tones in pencil or marker, for some reason it just doesn't pick up on it at all so most of my stuff ends up pasty and non existant and has to run through photo shop. (not that it improves it much.)

Oh, I know the feeling. My first scanner was like that too, I had to make my sketch lines so much darker than I wanted for it to be able to pick up on them, it's was annoying...

Ha, you should see what abominations my scanner commits on a daily basis! XD The face is gorgeous--I think it's because you're a bit braver with the deep shadows there, especially under the forelock.

My scanner spoiled me, it's a very good one and I don't usually have much trouble with it, but once in a while it just ruins my works >_<
I really like her face too, this was actually meant to be much darker than it is, but my traditional works never turn out as dark as I imagine them (unless I'm using black paper xD). If I had managed to get this looking darker, I'd probably have been even braver xD

This is really beautiful, I love the shading on the mare and the way that you drew her mane and tail. I also really love the tombstones and the epitaph - did you write it? And are those skulls on the left?

Wish I could take credit for that awesome epitaph, but no. I googled epitaphs and that one showed up, I don't think the author is even known. And there are many other versions too. And on the left, those are meant to be some more tombstones in the distance, though the fog created by the white pastels took their shape away a bit xD
