I'll be the first to admit I know jack about MEtroid series as it has never interested me. I know its more of the serious side of Nintendo like Zelda series but still. HEll I didnt even know she was female until Brawl!
One thing I liked and found unique about her though is that she has Space Dragon! Ridley as a enemy/rival. you don't see that everywhere, just like Plumber Mario with Dino/Turtle/Dragon Bowser. Thats my main reason to like Samus and Ridley.

"If this stupid dragon doesn't get out of my face RIGHT NOW" I'm sure I've said it before, but you have one of my favorite takes on Samus. Rough, tough, doesn't take any crap from space dragons, but still very cute and feminine. It's an excellent balance of the two portrayals and remains very true to character
