And yet, in every major encounter where the two fought, as soon as Superman cut loose, he beat her repeatedly and knocked her out. She only started winning the fight because he didn't want to fight her. When he realised he couldn't reason with her because of what Darkseid did, he gave her one hell of a beat-down and flattened her in seconds.

Still, don't see many people drawing the New 52 version of Supergirl, although I will probably drawn and quartered for even mentioning New 52

Simply put, because that interpretation sucks. Gone is the youthful, fun aspect of the character replaced with an angry overly bitter young woman who seems incapable of appreciating her new life or embracing what's in front of her.
Also her initial New52 costume has been crudely described as an "Armored Tampon", but the analogy somewhat fits. Simply put, the new Universe's Kara just *isn't* Kara and is a stark reminder of how much was ruined/lost in the "Reboot". Hence the reason fans cling to her as above.

I'm not sure how else one would react when you wake up to find that your world went in to the shitter when it seemed fine just yesterday, I doubt the amount of time she's had is enough for her to fully adapt, specially since she is being constantly thrown in to the fire. It'd be unrealistic to think she'll process it all instantly, so yeah character development may lead to her be closer to who she was before the New 52 perhaps.
Still, I liked the new costume, although would prefer if she had leggings like Supes.

Nevermind the fact that Pre-52 Kara adapted well and fairly maturely and quickly at both her world being gone and the realization that the young boy she was supposed to protect was now a grown man and the Earth's and Humanity's greatest Hero who's nearly a God. And she had more than her fair share of fantastic character development *without* turning into a moody, dark teenager who's just blatantly angry at everything. At least not at the start and not long term even when her outlook did sour some during her internal struggles about her father, her mission, etc. And you're free to like the new costume. Even if most people agree it's a piece of shite when compaired to her classic, Pre-52 attire.
